And this is why we have packs of people waiting outside the Tokyo stores everyday at opening. Horrible policy. Yikes.

Enjoy your watch!

Big congrats! I got mine a few weeks ago (I think). I had told my AD that I wanted a Polar or Batgirl, and 8 months later, they got me the latter. A similar story to yours. It is amazing how much a little toy excites us.

Enjoy!

There's no way I would go through all that and drop by the store 3 times a week for a watch, waiting for some lady to decide to sell me luxury item (no matter the 80% premium these watches are bringing anyone who gets them). It's just not worth it for me. But I realize now they will never want to let go the power they have over the buyers and things probably never get back where they were unless some tragic economic world wide event occur.
To be clear, it wasn't *always* 3 times a week - it was occasionally zero (I do have a life, after all), sometimes 1, sometimes 2, sometimes 3. While I am 100% work from home since Feb 2020, we do maintain a physical office that I like to drop in to from time to time, and this boutique is not far from there. It also opens at noon, which makes it easy to scoot over before lunch.

It was a bit annoying, but it wasn't a major inconvenience - and frankly, for the end result, I cannot complain at all! I would have preferred to just "get the call," but this shop does not do reservations for sports models, so waiting was my only option (unless I wanted to pay 2.5x retail at one of the dozens of second hand shops).

Edit: The very, very cute half Japanese sales lady also made it easy to persevere, if I'm being completely honest...

Tudor GMT is amazing, but I had the "date wheel issue" TWICE! They just put a brand new 2021 movement in mine, which hopefully fixed it once and for all. I also couldn't get the bracelet to work no matter how much I tinkered with micro adjustments, adding/removing links to a specific side, etc. It really needs 5 micro adjustments and a half link - hopefully their new "glidelock" system is incorporated into more models. I put mine on the official Tudor nato strap and it's never coming off, makes it infinitely more wearable.

Would love to see a Pelagos GMT with its amazing spring-loaded bracelet and lightweight titanium construction, or at least a 58 GMT with the upgraded bracelet.

I'm in the minority but like the BLNR more than the SS BLRO and prefer jubilee to oyster. Congrats, perfect sports watch!

That’s a great story of passion and perseverance. Only passion would drive you to make that many visits. To many Rolex is just $$$$ and would never do that and too others mostly of this generation who want and are used to instant gratification again would never do that. My kids included.

If I told them you have to go to the store every morning before it opens for six months they would insist on me taking some sort of medication.

I admit that while I don’t have Amazonitis where I expect everything the same day or next day, I was taken aback in 2018 when I went to purchase my first Rolex and was told they were out of stock and couldn’t order one. I had no idea what the guy was talking about, never heard of not being able to order something. Thought he was just being a prick. When I finally realized what was going on in the Rolex world I didn’t give up I just tried harder and harder until I stumbled upon my AD who has been the best.

So today it’s a game of passion perseverance and patience. Lack any of the three Ps then look for another brand unless of course you’re a whale.

The investor/flipper guild on this forum can learn a lot from this story .This is what it is about .

Congrats and enjoy !
100%. The problem is the investor / flipper guild feel hard done by when they can't get a GMT in SS when they just walk into a couple of ADs - and we all have to read their "disgruntled" or "it's so unfair" posts. Maybe they should just start a RFF - Rolex Flippers Forum and let the rest of us have important discussions on Rolex watches, rather than what they're worth and why Rolex are a bad company.
