15451ST.ZZ.1256ST.01 vs. 15451ST.ZZ.1256ST.02

Good day Gents

I am considering a purchase that id quite frankly like to understand a bit more before pulling the trigger, the following RO models are my options:

15451ST.ZZ.1256ST.01 - Black Dial, Diamond Bezel
15451ST.ZZ.1256ST.02 - Grey Dial, Diamond Bezel

Kindly let me know if the Grey Dial is a superior product, i am told it is more rare and difficult to source, whilst the black dial is more readily available. Theres a price difference of approx. 23%; although i do like the black dial on the wrist, i want to be sure its the most sensible decision.

Between the two that you have put forward, I would suggest the black dial variant. Whilst the grey may or may not be more limited in supply, I think that the black dial variant has a more harmonious look.

With that said, I would also like to suggest that you consider the silver dial variant, which appears to only come on a leather strap, but for which a bracelet could no doubt be purchased separately. I think that this piece has a great subtlety, with a lower contrast between the diamond bezel and the silver dial. Equally, I think the silver dial is superior to the black (or grey dials) and that the diamonds will anyway not be visually "lost" on the piece either.

This is just the type of reasoned advice i came for. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will look out for the silver dial. I have been leaning to black too (out of the options put forward); for approx USD3k more, i could get a 15202 which is a gem of a piece. Im just sad to say that the 15202 doesnt seem to go with my character or attire as much.

My pleasure; I'm glad my comments were of use.

Whilst the 15202 is a wonderful piece in its own right, it is very different from those pieces that you are considering - no doubt for the reasons you mention. One other consideration that may put your mind at ease ruling it out is the different size, which may not fit your wrist well, if you are comfortable with the 37mm case of the models that you suggested.

Ive been doing research concerning the pricing of these pieces. From my research it appears that the price range in the grey market ranges between 18k and 21k. I have been offered one at the upper end of 19k.

In your opinions,

i) is this a decent price?
ii) please recommend alternatives in the same brand/price range with a max. case diameter of 40mm.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have tried searching the forums talking about this particular model.

Just out of curiosity, any idea if the bezel (if badly damaged after years of use), is possible to replace? This is taking into account the diamonds embedded in it.

And also, is the leather strap replaceable with a steel bracelet?

Many thanks.

Yes, but a bezel replacement it expensive. Probably way more with diamonds as they would have to reset them all. AP will fix pretty much fix anything. My understanding is with their vintage pieces if they no longer have replacement parts, they will make new parts. So a bezel replacement on a modern piece is no issue.

The two models the OP was discussing come on a bracelet. You could however take the bracelet off and put it on leather.

Hi. My AD just called me that the Grey dial with diamond bezel is with them .I am thinking to get forfor my wife, but and he also like the withe dial diamond bezel. Which one is nicer or should we take the grey dial? At the same time I am able to get white dial with diamond bezel as well. Thanks.
