One watch to rule them all

Hello folks, been itching to upgrade. I'm a one watch guy, been meaning to upgrade to a PM model. I was at rolex yesterday and none of the PM Rolexes sang to me. If you had one watch, what would it be? 30-50k range. Thanks

Love the open worked AP. Would get a steel on bracelet. Not sure if the dial is worth the extra $$$

For me personally, this 39mm rg roc is the one and only PM AP

Beautiful selections. It's a bit subjective. I own AP and Rolex. But my grail at that price point would be a fp journe Centigraphe

Patek 5170G even if a touch over budget. Since this is AP forum any of the 44s work well for daily wear. With that budget choose your metal.

For me in that price range it would either be a Lange 1815 chrono or a rose gold AP ROC

Rolex platinum daytona, AP 26320 yellow gold white dial, or Patek 5980 steel and white dial.

If the upper end of the budget is genuinely being contemplated and maybe open to a slight bit of stretching, I wouldn’t mess around with a mass produced item, irrespective of the brand name attached – that sort of expenditure buys something a damn sight more exclusive!
To that end, if new only, then I’d have to give very serious consideration to the Grönefeld 1941 Remontoire.

Should pre-owned be an option, then I’d be looking at the likes of Laurent Ferrrier, De Bethune DBS, Chopard LUC Perpetual One, and even Bvlgari Octo Finissimo in Platinum.
I might give some thought to a Richard Mille RM016 in WG.

If you can get past the desire to only look at precious metals, then you should see if the two-tone Titanium/RG Girard Perregaux Laureato raises an eyebrow or two….http://www.swissarma.ch/girard-perre...-gold-options/

Ignore the idiot so-called professional journalist who doesn’t know his stainless steel from titanium – as if the colour wasn’t enough of a clue to begin with, never mind the ‘Ti' on the case back!

If it is going to be an AP, go with a 15202OR (the jumbo in pink gold; a custom rotor with your initials).

PJ S knows his watches. And I agree with him. If youre only going to have one watch make it some thing special and exclusive.

I totally forgot RM could be had at under 50k. But the RM 016 looks really dull. I mean maybe if it was the black ceramic one. Idk how much that one cost though used.

No such watch exists, if I’m not mistaken – the only black RM016 is coated Titanium.

The PP 5170 exceeds your budget by a little, but it's such a beauty
