I went into a Ben Bridge near me in San Diego the other day (mistake). They are a new AD and I asked how long the waiting list is for a Sea Dweller. The lady said that it's hard to say, everyone has their own clients.

I'm new to this whole world but it seems that if people REALLY wanted the grey market to stop, then report the serial numbers of the watch you bought to Rolex so they can suspend the AD authorization of the place that sold the watch to the second hand dealer. While Rolex controls pricing, they don't control who the AD sells the watch to. Seems a lot of AD's, become AD's so they can sell more non Rolex items and then "reward" the clients with a watch.

Report the watches you buy to Rolex etc. Thoughts?

Rolex is fine with their ADs distributing Rolex watches to their preferred customers.

I think in many (if not most) circumstances you wound find that the AD sold the watch to a customer and that customer then sold it to a secondary dealer, as I don't think savvy ADs would be maximizing their return by doing this, plus selling directly to secondary dealers could prospectively jeopardize their entire business.

And yes, I agree that a major reason many ADs become ADs is to be able to sell other items to customers who buy/will buy Rolex. It just makes business sense. Rolex is a brand that gets people to walk into your store, and if Rolex brings them in the door, this is your opportunity to sell other items as well (items that may have a higher net return + be much easier to replenish).
