Questions For OP 41 Black Dial Owners

On the list for a new 6 digit no date sub. If the wait goes on too long, I am seriously considering a black OP 41 or a 14060 4 liner. As you can guess, my preference is for no date.

As far as subs go, I have owned a 5513, a 16610, and an 114060. And I have tried a 14060 on in the past, so it is a known quantity.

While I have been able to try on a silver OP 36 at an AD, I have not been able to try on an OP 41. Nor have I seen the OP black dial in the flesh.

I have two questions.

How does the OP 41 wear?

And is the black dial overly glossy, or just right?

Thanks in advance for the responses.

I think it is a beautiful watch and also has AR coating which gives the crystal / dial less shine and better legibility.

I do not own one. My guess is that it wears somewhat smaller than the Sub.

Honestly it might be as difficult to obtain as the Sub. If you are already on the list and really want the Sub, I would probably just wait it out.

I love my OP41 black dial. It feels smaller on my wrist than 41mm but my other watch is an SD43 so that could be the reason. Get it, you’ll love it!

OP41 in silver feels larger than 41 Sub.

I don't have a OP 41 but instead a OP 36. I would say it's just about right. And the dial has the sun-ray finishing, so in some angles it's not a pure black dial.

Another point I find interesting, is that for OP 41, only 2 sides of the indices are in bevelled edge finish; while for OP 36, all 4 sides have bevelled edge finish. That allowed a slightly more lights for reflections for OP 36. Not sure if it's also a point for consideration for you.

Also attached my OP 36 picutre here, see if it helps

OP41 is a great watch. The black dial does have a nice sunburst effect. Really like the OP41 line.

I too have a 114060 which is also a great watch. 114060 is a little bulkier, but that's to be expected.

I find it to wear as long L2L as the sub but not as thick. I would also say that it wears more comfortably than the sub for that reason. All that being said … it’s not a sub :)

I haven't tried a 41, but I own a blue-dial OP39, and in my opinion it wears about the same as a 16610. There's less bezel, so the dial is larger, and that makes the whole watch appear larger on the wrist. It's the dial you look at, after all.

A watch blog (I think it was ablogtowatch) measured the OP39 vs 41, and there was a surprisingly small difference, far less than the 2mm you would expect, so I guess the 41 wears pretty similarly to the 39.

The OP black sunburst dials are gorgeous. HTH
