Spoke to an OB who said production of the 321 movement was less than the targeted 1000-2000/year - and these movements get distributed to the SS, Platinum and now Canopus 321 speedmasters.

I asked how distribution works across different OBs and they said the best reference point is Canada - they have one OB for a population of 38 million people, and that OB gets ~10-12 watches with a 321 movement per year (substantially more than OBs in the US) but these get sold to customers all across Canada. Extrapolating to the US where there is a population almost 10x greater (and likely greater relative demand), call it 100-150 watches with a 321 movement per year in the US. With ~30 OBs, that’s about 2-5 watches with a 321 per year per OB which is in alignment with what we’ve been hearing here. All to say, I do not think production numbers are high.

I've mentioned before either here or Omegaforums, but I never thought Omega would actually produce 1000-2000 321's a year across all variations. That was their max capacity and they probably don't want to produce anywhere near that amount.

Relative to Rolex, the EW321 is completely undervalued on the secondary market. I’m ok with that. Such a gem of a watch.

Are you on the waitlist at the OB in Vancouver? AD's aren't getting any I don't think. I ended up getting mind grey as I didn't want to wait 2+ years

Congrats, Brian! Very happy to see you with this in your collection now. Can't recall of it's your first Omega, but either way you'll cherish this piece for a long time. Enjoy in good health.

Thank you Rommel, and yes this is my first dive into the Omega brand.

I tried others 1861, 3861 but they just didn't sing to me but when I first saw this release it really appealed to my vintage senses (I have a love for vintage clothing, cars, furniture etc).

It was difficult because being that Vancouver is the only boutique in Canada, I knew I wouldn't get to see it in person. After reading reviews from @travelller (and others here), fratello, and of course looking at all the You Tube videos, I decided to take a chance and get on the list.

My total time from initial inquiry to delivery was 8 months (was initially quoted 2+years). I'm sure glad I took the plunge. It's absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous and wears like a Picasso on the wrist, (I know honeymoon and all that) ... but still!!

Here she is with my vintage Goodwear 1940's Mustang horsehide jacket from Good Wear Leather.

Looking good! Absolutely correct it is art on the wrist. Many people pay $70k+ USD to get that (basically) same movement in a Patek 5070. I’ve held mine up beside many very esteemed watches from various brands, and the finishing on the 321 is second to none.

Thank you for that @logo

I’ve already waisted countless hours staring at it through the loupe provided in the kit

I’m looking online for a schematic drawing or similar that might explain what all the components are … if anyone can find one, please let me know.

Haha I have it bookmarked, and go back to it from time to time. Tons of info in there, makes for a happy Sunday morning read with coffee.
