First Rolex watch

Hi everybody!
I'm totally new to the Rolex and, generellay, watches world.
I would like to buy my first one. I have a budget around 10k euros. I live in Italy?
Which watch should I consider and why? Thanks for your support!

My first Rolex were two tone as that's all the ADs had in Madrid at the time.

It didn't take me long to trade them in for stainless steel models. I have nothing against two tone models, in fact both rose gold and yellow gold look better on me but if you're starting out, you're safer with stainless steel sports models in terms of value retention and being able to change your mind, once you decide on what models you really want, a few months or years down the line.

The trouble is that getting them from an AD can be painstaking, although it has to be said, things seem to be getting better.

If not, just like a lot of people you might have to buy privately or from the secondary market dealers.

The only bit of specific advice I can give you is the following;

Never go into debt to buy. A house, a car to get to work... fair enough... but a luxury watch... hoping that you'll make a profit... in the current climate... please think long and hard.

You have to consider a lot.

Style: Dress or Sports
Metal: Precious or Steel
Color: Dial and Bezel
Function: GMT, Chronometer, Regatta Timer, Depth Rating

Only you can make these decisions.

Good Luck Finding your Watch.

Submariner is probably the most iconic Rolex, and a good first watch from the brand. Maybe a Datejust, if you want something more dressy…

I’m sure a lot of people would also vote for a GMT Master.

Yeah, just get a Submariner date (all black) and be happy. Can’t go wrong.

Cross your fingers and pray hard. You will need it, given the limited availability.
