Is this normal after a service?

It seems like a mark left by the case back removal tool…I’m quite sure it wasn’t there before…
Caseback removal tools do not make contact in that location, but if they did and were spun with entering the splines on the outer edge the swirls would be circular and not at the angles shown in your photos

I believe the issue is that circle etched completely around the perimeter. Not sure what "swirls" you are referring too.

Maybe the OP should clarify?

Whatever the case, I'm glad Rolex has your back.

You are correct - the issue is the circle etched completely around the perimeter on the polished portion, which is pointed to by the red arrows in first photo. Issue is not the random small scratches on the case back which is just normal wear and tear.

Thanks - I am also relieved that Rolex Canada made things right with no additional hassle...

That’s the right result. Glad it was resolved with no fuss OP. Now it would have been better if they didn’t put you through it in the first place but at least it’s fixed.

Agreed…had they given me a hard time, my feelings on the brand would have soured considerably. But since they handled it well, my enthusiasm remains strong.

Mistakes do happen, it’s how the resolution is handled that has a huge impact…

It's a relief that Rolex doesn't engrave serial numbers on the inside of the caseback so they're easily replaceable.

Yeah, that would complicate things considerably!

Glad to hear they'll be replacing the CB, OP. Hopefully someone else will take care of it this time and teach the newbie how it should be done. We all make mistakes, just need to learn from them.
