For pricing have a look at websites of Fog City, Grey and Patina and Tropical Watch and knock off a few thousand I would guess. Price also depends on box and papers too. I'm not a pricing expert but I'd imagine something like $7-8k if you're selling to a dealer (total guesswork - I could be wrong).

For your question on "better to sell" - what exactly do you mean? A 116610LV is probably going to cost you $25k to buy so you're looking at adding roughly $17k to a transaction.

Newer ones have the new movements with 70 hour power reserve. The hour markers are bigger which I’m personally not crazy about. The maxi cases also wear a lot bigger. The clasp is nicer. Would I personally add a bunch of money to get a new one? No

Your watch is in beautiful condition. I would recommend keeping it.

Looks like a mint and sharp 16610. Might be unpolished. I would keep it for sure.

Keep your excellent-looking 5-digit Sub! You'll only regret selling it later on...!

Keep it. The 5 digit Subs and GMT's are the best references ever made, IMO. Certainly the most iconic. Sure the clasp is not the greatest but who really cares, they still work.

I haven't owned a sub in a long time but if I were in the market, it would be for a 5 digit, not a newer ceramic version.

Can't say on price. But the 5 digit is the last of the tool watches and an icon before they became caricatures of what they once were. The 4/5 digit references built rolex and the new models simply homages to their tool watch predecessors. If anything, it should be the 6 digits getting traded for the old school versions and not the other way around.

Thank you for your advices really !!!

I think is better to keep it.

The watch is like new, with the green sticker and the number of watch model.

I mean I love the 6 digit subs. The case, the clasp, the look, etc…but keep your watch man. Not worth the price difference. Your 16610 is stellar.

Keep it unless you can get the LV at retail. I think the movement and bracelet improvements would be worth the $2-3k you would have to bring to the table

If you want a green bezel, find a 5 digit green bezel insert from the LV model and have a watchmaker swap it out for your black one.

Not hard to do and easy to put back.

Not cheap though…

Keep it! You have a special version of the 16610, only produced during the end of the 90s (around 1999). It's called a "swiss only", but that's not what interest me.

What's interesting about your model is that you benefit from three things, that isn't that highly debated.

1. The old bracelet with non solid end link. (Lighter and to me the right Rolex feeling.)
2. Lug holes
3. Luminova

This only occured on Rolex watches from 1998-2000, after that the bracelet was updated and the lug holes disappeared.

The good thing with luminova is that your watch is as solid as the new Submariners. Though as a rock. I actually sold my 16610 due to the tritium dial and hands, as they are fragile and can crust. I wear my watches pretty tough and luminova is a better option.

I guess you have to own a few Submariners to appreciate these things. And one more thing... Your watch wears smaller and weighs in on around 125 grams; the new Submariner weighs in on around 160 grams. That's a big difference.

Keep it.

Keep it and add the new LV later by getting it from your boutique/AD at MSRP.

Keep it! I have both and the one you have is wonderful. It’s so hard to get the new ones, and prices are high. Better to wait.

That looks like it's in beautiful condition! I'm on board with others and say keep it too. If you really want a Hulk, I would find a way to add one without selling yours. That would be a nice duo to have!

You've got a very cool "swiss-only" sub in great shape. IMO a great balance between the classic references and the bulkier modern one

If I was in the market for a submariner I'd be looking for one exactly like yours. Keep it!
