Just wait for your eyes to become like mine and you won't be able to focus at that level anyway - problem solved

Add a nice scratch to the bezel and you won't notice the defect of the 6 anymore!

Is this the factory crystal, or has it been replaced? It'd actually bother me a lot of the etched crown was that misaligned. Is it a common issue?

+1

If you look hard enough, you’ll find something to bother you about every watch. Get thicker skin, or don’t look at ridiculous magnification levels, or both.

I see it now. I doubt I would ever noticed but up close that is pretty bad. It should be replaced if under warranty but if not I think you are on your own.

I'm more worried about how W and A are displayed (above) in the SWISS MADE like its double printed.

Checkout another person's image (below) and it looks so clean and perfect! :(although a better clarity pic)

It’s fine, forget about it. I had my explorer for over a year before I realized the white highlighting was even there.

has the OPs dial been repainted as the picture does look pretty difficult to tell, but comparing to my own pictures of an old watch I think the 'L and E' on ROLEX look way to close and the rest of the "superlative chronometer" also looks "thick". But this could always just be the angle, lighting, phone pictures playing up.

OP...Do you have original papers or service papers for this if you picked it up recently. Not saying its not a Rolex, just as you've already pointed out you've a query with the dial its worth checking. Also, does the crystal have the Rolex Coronet etched?

When I was hunting for a 114270 I saw many online with this type of "defect". It's nothing, just enjoy the watch, it's a beauty. I don't even know if mine has the same thing and I don't care.

The dial kooks to be within the normal range for that time period.
I had one of the very first "K" serials and the white highlights on all the 3,6,9 indices was literally all over the place with not even any uniformity between the nature of the offset between them.
To top it off, the defects were visible to my naked eye at the time and when my eyesight was much better than it is now.

The dial was replaced by Rolex without any issue and all available replacements were defective to varying degrees as supplied directly by the Mothership to the RSC.
I had my choice of the pick of 3 dials before they would go ahead and perform the replacement.
At the end of the day I had to be content with the knowledge that I had the pick of the crop and the dial I ended up with was acceptable to the naked eye even though the "3" was still just a tiny little bit off.

It's all well that ends well

This far down the track I would think the OP will have to suck it up.

Put the loupe down and enjoy the watch

To be quite honest the bunching and unevenness of some of the characters in "Superlative" would dive me much more crazy. Some things are better off not under the microscope as they are meant to be imperfectly perfect.

Icon20 Rolex Imperfection

Hello,

I just bought my first submariner a month ago and only recently have I noticed a small line/crack or imperfection on the platinum coated graduation, particularly between 20 and 30.

What do you experts here feel? Is it worth going to the AD for this small issue? Initially, I thought its just some dirt but I tried brushing it away with a super soft paint brush and examined it under a loupe. Its definitely a small imperfection which can be noticed only by me at certain angles.

Also, would love to hear from others if you notice the same on your submariner.

Thanks a ton!
