6119g or 7234g

Obviously completely different watches. One a simple time only dress watch, the other a travel time / pilot watch. Between these two if you could only have one - which would it be?

I have a 6119g - have always been intrigued by the 7234g. Complications are nice and it could be more versatile since it's a bit sportier. I love the 6119g as well and do wear it casually on a brown shell cordovan strap.

In the dress watch camp - I do have a rose gold breguet tradition 7027.

Pic of my 6119h which I have posted few times here before:

7234 wears smaller than most expect. Strap especially.

7234, especially with the new movement. worth more than 6119 in terms of value, design and function.

Not that I have to have 7234 but I much prefer it over 6119.

I’d definitely choose the 7234. I prefer it to the other one.

If you like simple manual winding; buy 6119. If you love traveling between different timezone, 7234 is a great choice.

I will go for 7234. It is more versatile and the complication is so useful.

7234, as impressive as I think the 6119 is, its oddly big for a simple time only dress watch. I thought it would have been right on the money at say 37mm.

I don't like 6119 but had thought it was a crowd favorite. All the more I am surprised that most people here would pick 7234 including myself of course. Agree with others that 7234 looks smaller than it is. The substantial bezel, rail track, and fat large numerals leave hardly any empty space on the dial.

My cousin has the 7234g. Picked it up very cheap. It’s a great watch but he did change the strap to a 18/16mm as the oem strap is very thin. I feel it’s a great watch. 60m wr makes it easier to life with and very legible dial with a very useful complication.

I'm really surprised at the responses here. 6119 for me. Thinner, and doesn't have those insanely oversized time travel pushers

Did your cousin buy another clevis buckle? The one that comes with 7234 doesn't fit on 16mm I believe

7234g is a beauty! Have been eyeing one especially with how low they have been trading

it really depends on what you have in your collection......if you're frequent traveller or need a watch for your business, I'd go for the travel time; it sort of fall into the optional camp

the dress watch is a quintessential Calatrava classic, I'd rather own that first before adding the travel time

I have a 126710 BLRO (Pepsi) and (326934) SkyDweller as far as dual / travel time goes. For dress, I have the breguet mentioned above, and a yellow gold day date 40 (228238) if you count that as dress ;) (I wouldn't). A couple if other sport Rolex models, a royal oak and others..

I like the Calatrava. But I like the 7234g too

Just picked up a 7234 and what a beauty. Cant beat it for what they are trading at now. Also, i don't mind the 18/14 strap, my wrist is tiny as you can see so I'll likely leave as is.

Pilot is my favorite from Patek...great looks, legibility, lume, size options, part of the complications collection, which are very useful and practical. I went with 5524r on my just under 7 inch flat wrist. Just bought a black pp calf strap from the platinum pilot. Can be dressed up or down and love the brown sunburst dial. Even has 60m of wr.

I own the 6119r. I went with it because it’s just such a classic dressy piece, and it’s what I was looking for when buying a Patek.

If I owned multiple Pateks, I may eventually venture to a pilot watch. But it just felt like if I wanted a pilot watch I could get an IWC. I know that can be said about a classic dress watch as well, but to me, a gold Patek (and calatrava at that) is the pinnacle of dress watches. The pilot watch I’d arguably say has a more tool watch aesthetic, hence why an IWC fits just as well as a Patek.

I would choose the 7234g, it has a much more engaging design, dual time function and the case looks much better. I do like the more minimalistic design the 6119 has tho, flies under the radar and has a more subtle look.

True - but aesthetically speaking ... The patek speaks to me more than the IWC pilot offerings.

7234g is not my taste. However, I love the 6119g. You can actually dress it up and down. I would rock that with shorts no problem.
