Is this what it has come to for ADs to stay afloat?

I always thought this was the Rolex/Tudor watch only forum, its more like one of those so called social media sites.

I wish I could post like it was before. Unfortunately, times have changed.

Like others have reported the AD’s shelves are empty.

My local AD has not had a Rolex on display for at least 10 months.

So, I was surprised to see them selling imported coffee cakes.

I posted here to see if other people are seeing similar trends.

This would be hilarious if it wasn’t so close to the truth.

Well, my AD has coffee cakes in the display case, but not ones we can actually purchase. they just let you have a small nibble to see whether or not you'd like the taste. If you like it, then they...put you on a list and call you when your coffee cake is ready to be picked up.

Dropped in to my AD on Saturday just to say hello, the store was extremely busy, people buying jewellery and watches - they stock other brands as well as Rolex, the exhibition only watches were in demand for trying on and my SA says that demand shows no sign of waning.

I think that we forget that the AD’s are still getting watches from Rolex, I turned down a TT Sub LN last week as I am broke having just moved house and the wife has stolen my watch money to buy furniture.

Dealers are busy, they are making money, sometimes we just don’t see it.

A coffee cake to quality for a DJ is probably right lol. I've been waiting 6 months at a few different ADs for a DJ41 in blue. No end in sight.

Your question implies you think ADs are having a hard time making money. To the contrary, ADs are receiving and selling more Rolex watches this year than in any past year. Demand just happens to still exceed those levels so there is nothing in the case. But I assure you no Rolex AD is wondering how they are going to pay the electric bill.

That may be true. I have also noticed this is the first year that the local AD has stopped advertising Rolex on the expressway bill boards.

Agreed. Empty AD displays = they are making $$$.

This is a very true statement. Was at my AD a week ago. Picking up my Tudor GMT. Was told they have received more Rolex units in past 12 months than any year in history.

If the ADs shelves are empty, it means that the ADs are selling every watch they get from Rolex.

Maybe in South Texas "My Grandma's" cakes are hard to come by and the Rolex AD manages to score enough to sell from time to time.

Admittedly, this is something that would get me into an AD. If you saw the amount of money I spend each month on interesting food, you'd understand.

There isn't an AD who has stocked shelves and excess inventory; they're making out as much as is possible. Although it comdic that they're also selling coffee cakes maybe it's just to keep life interesting. I know I'd get bored if I had to hang out in an AD all day with no unspoken for inventory.

Your dealer in Texas goes through the trouble of bringing in coffee cakes from Boston for local customers to purchase and enjoy during the Holiday Season... and you want to turn that into a negative???

Baseless AD bashing.

Stay afloat? LOL!

Continuing on the boat analogy, the only thing liable to sink my AD is the tons of money they are making from luxury watches that sell at full MSRP and are pre sold months or years in advance of receiving them. They're going to need a bigger boat.

Is this what it has come to for ADs to stay afloat?

Baseless AD bashing.

Just to clarify, I am not bashing the AD. Sorry my post came across that way.

This AD moved out of the mall and built a new store location across the street from the mall.

My understanding was this move was to align with Rolex.

So, I see all the effort the AD put into the new store for Rolex and they don’t have any Rolex watches on display. Not even the “display” pieces.

It actually looks depressing seeing all of the brand new display cases completely empty. That section of the store looks abandoned.

I also noticed that the bill boards on the expressway that have prominently featured Rolex for the last 9 years now feature Hublot.

It just struck me odd that the biggest news the AD has had this whole year are these coffee cakes.

I’m planning to visit the AD tomorrow. Maybe I’ll buy one of those coffee cakes myself
