Buying from AD
Been emailing my AD since November 2021, no buying history. I was passing by the store last Monday and decided to pop in and introduce myself. Spoke to the rep for 15 min and gave him a couple options of what I wanted : tt sub bluesey and tt seadweller.
I emphasized that the bluesey was my number 1 choice and the watch that I really really wanted. Fast forward to Sunday 6 days later… I get a call from the AD who says he has a tt seadweller and asks if I would be interested? I was there in 30 min and bought it, after thanking him, I told him I still am very interested in a bluesey. Very happy! But my question is this… Do you think I put myself to the bottom of the list for a bluesey because I already was given an opportunity to purchase A Rolex, or does this give me “buying history” and I get put on the top of the list for a bluesey when it comes in? That’s something I would’ve asked before purchasing the SD43 TT.

Keep doing what you're doing, pop in on occasion, ask, always wear the Sea Dweller.

I sent an email again after reminding him about the 126613lb but yes I should’ve asked for sure…was excited at the time and didn’t think about it until after the fact I also didn’t want to say no to the SD 43 |

Can't hurt to purchase more watches. I have two on my wish list. I asked my AD specifically whether purchasing one watch gets in the way of getting the one that I am interested in. He said absolutely not. I also purchased a Lady DJ for my wife for Christmas (first purchase at this AD), and that seemed to motivate him to get me the ones I am interested in.

It will work in your favor. You have demonstrated that you are a no nonsense customer and after specific watches that you want for yourself (not just steel Daytona, gmt, etc).

I don't think it hurts your chances. Just keep following up.

If you're happy with it, congrats. I think it will pair well with a Blue TT.
If you're buying watches you don't want to maybe get the one you do want, I don't know what to tell you. I've never understood it. |

Very cool piece to start with. And the bluesy is very cool too. May take a little longer but I'm sure you'll get it.

Congrats on your Sea Dweller! As for the Bluesy, stop in the store every month or so to say hello. Be sure to wear your Sea Dweller and tell them how much you love it. Take that opportunity to remind them how much a Bluesy would compliment it but don’t be pushy. The Bluesy will come with time. I’ve learned that collecting is a marathon and not a race

Buying from AD
Congratulations. You’ve already done really well. No one can answer the question re the bluesy. But great advice above. Patience and a love for ensuring your watches have gone to a good home.

Congratulations. I would just keep contact and in time I am sure it will be yours with your current purchase history of the TT SD.

Congratulations OP, the TT SD43 is a great piece. Enjoy the heck out of it and wait patiently for the Bluesy. I wonder, what would you do if Rolex announce a Bluesy SD43 in March? History shows us they're capable of anything... .

Impossible to say. The AD has the answer, all we can do is guess.
If you really are on a list for the 13LB you are doing better than many people. The AD should give you an idea of where you are on the list (although your position might bounce around a bit) and their best estimate of when you will get it. Congratulations on the Sea Dweller. It's an impressive watch in TT. |

You did the right thing. Now, instead of worrying about the bluesy (you will get it...), enjoy your SD!

Enjoy! As others have said, wear it with enjoyment and periodically drop into your AD with it. IMO it will only strengthen your position.

Then surely you can recommend him an AD that he can walk into and buy his dream Rolex, right? |

Congrats on the SD and starting the relationship with your AD. I think you would still be in line for a bluesy but may wait 3 or more months. My SA said Rolex wants to expand the customers (and not for repeat customers) and allocating now 2 hot models / year. Last year i was able to acquire 3. Maybe some truth to it but i've asked other ADs in another state and similar lines were relayed to me. Of course they will still take care of VVIPs no matter what :-)

Can’t you just trade someone the SD for the bluesy?? Then get what you want now

As far as your question goes. I don’t think it will put you at the top of the list (depends how many are ahead of you that want a bluesy) but you will definitely get one sooner than later… you now qualify for it whereas before probably did not. |
