Again small magnification date, genuine?

This has came up at a rather good price, although it's the last year of the run and its got no papers.

The thing that strikes me the most is the magnification of the date view.

Had the same question last week with a batman which seemed to be a common issue amongst that model, is this the same?

It's always been my first and most obvious port of call for checking a fake but it seems now that rolex might just not be making them as consistently as I thought.

I don't see anything wrong with this example.

Rolex had issues with weak date magnification a few years ago, to the extent that they even removed the x2.5 magnification claim from their website (and they'd been touting this exact figure in their advertising since at least the 1950s). There were many discussions on the issue here on TRF and elsewhere. Yours also looks low to me, but watch looks ok otherwise.

That level of magnification looks wrong to me in 2009-10. In any event it would bug the heck out of me. The rest of the watch looks good. Here’s my Z cereal:

Looks good. But you should try to get it opened and see the movement before anything.

It has a service crystal from the era when the cyclopses were weak.

Yeah makes sense. What era was that? (I haven’t researched that issue)

Around 2015. Here's a longer thread on the subject from that year, but it was already well discussed by then, according to some of the responses...
