I love 5 digits personally and myself it would be a no brainer…. However…. You have 2 6 digit Rolexes already based of your signature.

Although the upgrades between 5 and 6 digit are nothing truly remarkable in the longevity of the watch, it seems like most that try and go from 6 to 5 digit watches are left underwhelmed due to less heft without the ceramic era bulkiness (false perceived quality over 5 digit) I’m not sure how you may find it.

I certainly need to see it and try it on, but there is something about getting a bit more legacy type Sub that could patina, and also with the clean dial. I understand though the allure of the ceramic bezel and the heft of newer versions. A Sub 41 I tried recently looked and felt great!

It's an OK deal, but not amazing, and that's assuming the watch is in good working order

There are well-known dealers who are selling full sets (at least with original Rolex paperwork) under $10K. So, a naked watch at $9K from a "local guy" is just OK.

If you meet at a jewelers it would be worth having them check the watch out on a timegrapher. If it needs a service that adds a minimum $700-$800 to the cost.

Interesting I had not seen reputable dealers with this price point in this condition. I will look again.

Yes if I were to do this we will be removing the back and examining at a jeweler.

Does a local jeweller have the expertise ?
Personally I gladly pay more from a professional seller

I don’t think there are many legitimate submariners on bracelet for any year still out there for 9k.
