There absolutely is. No one expends that much effort without a axe to grind.

Glad someone is looking into stuff and putting the truth out there.

Not true. Lots of people expend effort on subject matters because they are passionate about it. They don't have to have an ax to grind.

Exactly! I love Panerai but hate the direction things have been going.

Richemont needs to give Panerai the same love they are giving Cartier. Jose's work is high quality, and I think there is an opportunity for Richemont to restore the brand.

I love the old Panerai's, but there isn't one in the current line I would buy.

Definitely going in a different direction than what make them attractive to me.

The decoration I kind of get because it’s behind a case back. The downgrading of the spec, along with the increasing of the prices, I don’t like.

This about sums it up for me, too.

The new models seem gimmicky.. and those un-decorated movements are just fugly and cheap. Little details matter.

And some people are passionate about grinding axes.

I feel like Panerai are trying to expand their market outside of the Panerai Enthusiast or watch collector and aim at the more General Watch Buyer Market
Hence the push towards more sustainability in their materials and packaging

Catering to the Paneristi for 20 years didn't really do them any favors long term so now mainstream appeal seems to be what they have their sites set on, and 95% of general watch buyers dont GaF about a lot of the things enthusiasts care about

Personally, the 47mm Panerai's are too big to look good my wrist.

Unfortunately, this means classics like the 372, 127, 690 and others will never make it into my collection.

If Panerai wanted to immediately increase sales, they would come out with 44mm (or smaller) versions of these 47mm classics.

Anyone else agree?

Immediately increasing sales is what got Panerai into trouble the first time around. Panerai is lost but bastardizing the classics is not the answer.

I agree Panerai is lost…with their current line up and oversized classics, I can’t come up with anything worth buying…

Hope to move up the list for an Oyster Batman or try a Speedy Sapphire sandwich…

I've toyed with the idea of adding a Panerai to my humble collection (Rolex and Omega). I used to be very passionate about the brand and owned several (312, 372, 212). I do miss having one still. If I do get one again it will be an older 000, 005 or 111, something classic without all the fuss. And hopefully for a good price
