That disgust and dismay reflects poorly on the brand, and I think will hurt it in the long run. No brand in their right might wants customers to be pissed off the way many are.

Well, there is no shortage on the pre-owned market, so if you want one now, buy one used at the market price. Otherwise, you will need to find another AD, you can build a relationship with. Products in high demand are hard to get period at MSRP. Makes no difference what they are.

They are not high horology, low production, etc., which I think makes it easier to stomach getting turned away. Try to buy a Bugatti and get turned away, you feel like, OK I get it limited, etc. Try to buy a BMW 5 series and get turned away, and you feel like, screw them! If Rolex wants to play this game, they had better start hand finishing some movements and building real complications, not just limiting supply. Discerning buyers will not be fooled.

Not surprised. My understanding is that is common. Do not think this is about you OP. So, complain if you want. Do not think it matters.

Local Rolex dealer Wouldn’t take my order

No ADs are taking orders right now from anyone in my geographical area, so welcome to the club.

Rolex a douche brand? The only douches are are the Instagram models and the Flippers. (Oh and AD sales reps)

I got my Rolex after a 470 day wait a few weeks ago. When I went to pick up the watch my SA mentioned that they were not taking names for any Rolex models anymore. The number of people that walk in "expressing interest in a watch" faaaaaar exceeds the number of watches that actually come in.

I wouldn't take it personal. It is what it is. <shrugs shoulders>

They don't take orders anymore for watches. Allocation only. List your interest and you'll be good to go.

They don’t need your business. You want what they have, and they have 100 other people they can sell it to. The Karen complaint tactic won’t help. Gone are the days where you are special because you have 10-15k to spend.

It sounds like you are asking for something that the dealer cant get for you , what would you like them to say to you ?

You don’t complain to Rolex.
Rolex wholesale to the AD, and the AD choose whom to sell their stock to.

It has nothing to do with Rolex, they don’t sell to end users.

Care to add a qualifier to that statement?

The overwhelming majority are decent people trying to do a job and don't deserve to be slandered just because they don't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside while they tell you (the 975th person of the day) that they have no Rolex for sale.

Which model did you wish to order?

In Jordan, where you live, the Rolex Mideast distribution operator may have finally closed the order flow for routine production models.

I am sure that AD would accept a Royal order, or a custom dial request by the same (or the Mideast operator would handle it).

But, for consumer discretionary purchases, an AD is simply an independent retailer with little or no obligation to accept your offer to buy*.

* Warning: Legal Content
PS: I am not a lawyer…

When an AD displays goods in a store, or displays goods or services on a website or in a brochure, they are inviting the consumer to make an offer to buy. They have the right to accept the offer or decline it.

What this means is that the consumer cannot legally insist that they sell the goods or service.

This invitation for you to make an offer to buy is known as an 'invitation to treat'.

Not required to take orders ? Unless it is an order from grey seller ! I think OP raises a valid question

AD's no longer take 'orders'. They take 'expressions of interest' and decide who they wish to allocate a watch to.

I suspect if you wanted to "order" a watch and didn't like the treatment - and then "file a complaint then you've unfortunately approached it from the angle and they (allegedly) simply just don't want your business.

I think you have not read my post correctly.

If the statement was qualified I wouldn't have cause to disagree with it.

And manners go both ways, far too many people forget that part.

Unfortunately this is the way it is at the moment. Complaining about it on an email will get you as far as ringing up an AD asking for a new GMT. Nowhere. Hop on over to Omega and ask to try on the new Speedmaster Sapphire Sandwich. Ask for a cheeky 10% discount and walk out of there knowing you have the most Iconic watch ever made. There’s a good chance you’ll get more enjoyment out of that then the Rolex you were hoping to get on a list for.

Cheers.
