Lol remember in early 2021 when all the apes that owned GME stocks were like "diamond hands", "hold the line", "apes, together, strong!". Now its the grey dealers' turn.

Like with everything, it's who blinks first. The potential buyers (who are happy to all in at current depressed prices) versus the sellers (i.e. the dealers).

In reality, none of the grey dealer are buying off your watch at price levels they used to pay just months ago. 124060 Subs in the US are now paid by dealers merely $500 over the MSRP for example. Most of them will only consign and not even buy at this point.

What will happen sooner than later is that you will be able to get the watch from your AD faster than the grey dealers are willing to lower their prices.

Eventually most of the weekend resellers will get rekt and market will stabilize.

Team all this with looming recession, gas crisis, market crisis, upcoming home crisis, Russia not receiving watches anymore + all those flippers getting cold feet and it's perfectly clear there's nobody left to save the Rolex market for returning back to 2016.

Interesting that Watchfinder have dropped the white dial from £50k to the same price as the black dial. Looks like all other models are priced the same.

I bought my Explorer 214270 from my AD just before it was discontinued. The average price on C24 hasn’t really moved in the past month or so. Obviously I know this is smoke and mirrors as it’s the price that greys will be willing to buy my one for that’s the important figure.

I remember years ago BLNR’s were £8k on the grey market. Hopefully we get back to those days where it’s just true watch fans in this hobby.

I don’t know why you would think the people setting the pricing are the idiots. Aren’t the people paying the prices the idiots? So many members on this forum attack the wrong people in this game. So if you had a discontinued hulk for example. You can use any watch in this example but I’ll use the hulk. If you put it on eBay for a bidding war and it got all the way up to $75,000 that some guy actually paid you; for you to be consistent you would blame yourself for taking the money and not the person who gave it to you right?

During the mass exodus that still continues to this day from northern states that had extremely harsh restrictions during Covid to southern states like Florida that didn’t a massive stress has been put on the housing market down here. Wealthy people from places like New Jersey got in bidding wars for particular houses all over our state. They were buying houses that were typically worth $300,000 for upwards of $800,000. It happened some friends of mine in the Tampa area. They were perfectly happy in their house and some dude offered 2 1/2 times what it was worth and the next thing you know they had to pack up and leave. Laughing all the way of course. They are not idiots.

I saw one person needing to sell his Tudor BB58 (!!!) ASAP for a price 'a bit' lower than what market price used to be. If these are the kind of people where 3k is make or break it, yikes.

What are you saying? Are you saying it’s difficult for you to imagine that there are people out there were $3000 is an extreme amount of money for them?

I'm saying I find it crazy that people spent 3k on a watch 'to get into the game' when they obviously couldn't miss it and shouldn't have spent the money.

That's what all this frenzy and hype caused. People weren't thinking straight. And now they get burned.

Perhaps they saw other people making money on Watches and thought they would try it themselves. After all our beloved hobby has become more like a stock market exchange then a hobby these last five years or so. Who you wish to blame for that is up to you but it has definitely become that. Hopefully it’s going to cool off significantly. Time will tell. Either way saying they weren’t thinking straight probably isn’t accurate. Saying they had bad timing would be a better description.

Just looked at the "flash sale." Prices are still to high for me to jump in.

These abundant examples of prices being lowered is all very interesting, but is there anyone who can tell us what really matters?! The TREND on C24... anyone have that info? Anyone?!

... sorry, I had to. That is some of the most specious reasoning I have seen on a forum in a while.

Anyways, good to see some signs of cooling off. Doubt it will have any implications for availability, but as with many here I would welcome even a marginal improvement.

I totally agree. I would love to see 2014 prices all over again. Then everything would be back to normal.

It’s only a matter of time. Rates going up and central banks pulling back will significantly impact the economy and discretionary spending. Compound that with people spending discretionary money on normal things like travel now that the world is returning to normal.

Crown & Caliber usually offers the highest prices when purchasing watches as well.

On a Tudor BB58. There was never a good timing to make money on that watch.

Too many people overextending themselves.
