Doesn't matter to me. I'd rather have a discount than a card.

could not care less.... I do not wear the card

Maybe for other purposes such as a watch you hand down to your child, or a gift to a loved one it makes sense to care. However my taste changes all the time, and I end up buying/selling due to wanting to try something new so like I said, do not care who's name is on the card.

That being said, if I found my first Rolex, the 116523 with my name for sale, I would instantly buy it as I do regret selling my first piece.

I would prefer to be the first name on the list..

no name on any of my cards, always bought at AD (Europe) . I remember asking for it when I purchased my first in 2013. I was told, that writing the name on the card is no longer be practiced at Rolex.

The real problem is the routine refurbishing of watches that occurs before a re sale. Unless the watch is labeled “unworn” it has been polished.
All of the “excellent” condition watches you see on trusted sellers sites have been worn and polished. It’s fine for just having a watch to wear, but in my opinion destroys the watch as a collectible.

Only way to circumvent this is to buy from AD, buy “unworn” from trusted sellers, or buy from original owner you trust.
Agreed, more important is the condition of the watch.

I know Rolex don't write the name on the card any more, but others do, Patek write it very nicely on the certificate you get with them.

I never intended to sell any of my watches although occasionally I have over the years to trade up, and I hope to pass them to children or grand-children, so it would be nice to have name on the original paper.

Does that matter to you?

No

It does matter to me, but I like to buy pre-owned watches, so I always need to buy watches from people who have the exact same name as me.

Could not care less. I don't think I have ever looked at any of the cards of my Rolex watches.

Absolutely no issue for me. As long as it has a card & it's the piece that I want.

I'm broadly in line with most on here, I've never been a "box and papers" man, it's never made any difference to me, once the warranty was over they were useless anyway, and the box is just a generic box.

But as I get older I've started to think about what I'll leave behind and I think it's kinda cool that in the future one of the great-grandkids might look at one of my old watches and check out the paperwork, see my name and where I bought it, etc. The Patek style paperwork is nicer than the Rolex card and as people say, these days you don't get your name on the Rolex card.

So I guess it doesn't matter to me, but from a historical point of view it might be nice for future generations that will inherit watches.

Interesting.

I’ve seen Rolex owners have varying degrees of sentimentality about total watch virginity routine. For some people, usually no nonsense wis’ – watch virginity is something to be gotten rid of quickly and without too much fanfare. Like ripping off stickers and tossing the box and getting it on. For others – usually first timers, but not always – watch virginity is a precious state process and package to be done fully only when they’ve found a Rolex they truly love. For others still, it's not that big a deal either way: it's a pretty neutral event; a normal and uneventful part bringing to close all the bribes related purchases and WLWL then onto WL then getting a text to come get your lousy watch.

The key thing is for you or rather us to determine how a Rolex feels, and proceed accordingly from there. If this is a massive, massive deal for you or the watch, you're going to need to talk about it in detail and spend some time laying the foundations for the ‘card signing event’. If it's no big deal for the watch, you'll still need to be gentle and considerate with it, but there may be less emotional prep work involved as the AD will likely use a Sharpie and totally muck it up anyway along with a spelling error. So tailor your approach to the attitude of your Rolex, but err on the side of treating it as a significant event for both watch and wearer.

After all, it’s come a long way from factory to shady briefcase to watch show to your wrist.

Two of my three current Rolex have my name on the card, I think that’s pretty cool. My newest has the no name card, it’s cool too.

No, the warranty card goes in the safe, and the watch gets worn. The card hardly gets looked at after that.

You can always get your name printed on the invoice from AD with matching SN.

A Rolex and Tudor of mine were both purchased Preowned at AD. Both owned less than 1 yr. by previous owner. I’ll take the savings over my name on the card. I agree with above comment!

No. But I guess that's in part because my first Rolexes were vintage. So, not a biggie for me.

As mentioned already, but it never hurts to restate the obvious:

Where does my name go on the card?

I agree that's how it should be no matter what. I'm just sharing my first hand experiences at one particular service center.

But in the scenario you mentioned, the owner could certainly get help from the buyer to sort out a warranty issue.

In the case of the gray market it's much more complicated.
