55 on that thing....not a chance! The past few months I've have more sprains and strains than I've had in years, and all are from stupid stuff. I can't imagine the head trauma I'd sustain from that death machine.

....well, enough about me, go have a blast

Reminds me of that video I saw of some guy zipping down a freeway in NYC with one of these.

Tough crowd

Appreciate the concern, I really do. I’m not out trying to break land speed records on this thing, normally cruise around 30kph

After owning multiple street bikes, dirt bikes, ATVs, snowmobiles etc. this is a whole different experience! don’t knock it till you try it

I can't remember what city I was in, but it was for work, and I saw these for rent all over the place, I finally gave in and tried one... What. A. Blast! The ones I used didn't go 55mph tough, but they scooted along pretty well.

Loud pipes save lives

Silently going 55mph on a scooter … eeks. Wear some good gear and stay frosty for hazards!

55mph!! They should be prohibited from use on the pavement (sidewalk) at speeds more than fast walking pace.

How many pedestrians will need to be seriously injured or worse, before they are restricted to road use, and can be regulated (with compulsory insurance too).

It's illegal to ride a motorised moped on a pedestrian walkway, isn't it?

Out for a rip

I had a riot driving the cheapo rental ones in old town alexandria last time I was there. Great way for a lazy bum like me to get back and forth from the parking ramp to the Airbnb we rented as it was about 2 miles uphill.

I didn’t not drive on the sidewalk of course. Just city backroads going 20 mph.

No sidewalks just bike paths and low volume roads, definitely not ripping down walkways running people over. Just like any type of vehicle they can be enjoyed safely and responsibly
