Pick one: GMT II BLNR (Batman) vs TT CHNR (Rootbeer)

I'm dreaming..... but let's pretend my AD actually picks me as one of the lucky ones to purchase a GMT II. I really want the BLNR on Oyster but I've also said I'm interested in the CHNR.

What's better?
- BLNR is certainly more casual
- CHNR still casual just because it's GMT but that rose gold certainly adds a little 'bling'

There will never be a scenario where both will be on the counter and I must pick one - if that did happen I'd still go for the BLNR. But I can see that the CHNR is likely less sought after and hence may be available sooner. Settle for the CHNR in that case? Or say "no thanks" and keep waiting (5 years so far.)

Just my opinion, but I tried on both of these this past Saturday.

Honestly, I always liked the Batman more, but after seeing them both in person, the two tone Root Beer gets my vote.

It was gorgeous!

Had both, only the BLNR now. In photos the root beer looks so much better. In person the brown is a really light milky brown. You have to really like brown. I like blue better than brown and especially this blue, it is amazing. I got the root beer because I didn’t want to wait for the BLNR, learned to wait for what you really want. On jubilee especially, it is amazing. Also the PCLs are scratch magnets, and not a big fan of TT. I just looked like halfway there to full gold to me.

I personally like the rootbeer more, but in your case I would wait for what you really want.

I said flip a coin but if forced to choose it’d be the BLNR. I love the CHNR (it’s my next purchase) but the BLNR is just awesome. There are not bad choices amongst the GMTs.

Had stints with both and like both, go BLNR! It is simultaneously more casual and more flashy than the CHNR imo. The rose gold is muted and sometimes blends into the steel, while the jubilee bracelet always shines. The jubilee also hides scratches and will always look fresh, while the CHNR will scratch by just looking at it. On the bezel, it’s a rich blue vs a pastel brown.

Plus, you’ll save ~$5k so you can take your new travel watch on a trip!

Before I had ever seen either of these in person, I would have voted BLNR without a second thought. After seeing both at an AD (Exhibition pieces), I have to say that the CHNR wins for me with a very slight edge. It's really stunning to me in person!

However, I see we are a bit opposite on bracelet choices. I am a huge fan of the Jubilee and that's definitely my choice on the BLNR. If the CHNR was offered with Jubilee, that would take it over the top for me!

Bottom line is that you can't go wrong with either one. I guess let the AD decide and whichever is offered to you first, take it!??

If you’ve waited 5 years … you may be low priority on the AD allocation list.

Having seen the two in the flesh, the BLNR is the easy pick. Should not have to settle for what you don’t really want.

Flip coin if you aren't set on one and you are offered a watch and its one you are considering. IMHO

They only get 5-6 each year and there are millions of people in this metro area. I'm not young, female & pretty so it's hard to stand out from the rest of the tire-kickers swarming the AD

Love GMT

Not a fan of the rose gold version.
Top choice is 5 digit BLRO
2nd is BLNR
3rd is SS/YG
4th by a long distance new BLRO(not red or blue Pepsi colors) and

Indeed - and if you'd have had this poll just a couple/few years ago you'd have likely seen different results. Up until sometime around Covid, the CHNR wasn't that popular at all compared to their stablemates, and they could be seen still in cases long after the popularity of the BLNR/BLRO made them quasi-unobtanium (even though the CHNR's are around 50% more expensive than the other two at MSRP). Add some hype and scarcity around the rest of the models, and the popularity of the Two Tone watches increased a bunch in the past 24 months +/-. It wasn't that long ago that TT SkyD's, SD43's, GMT's and even Daytonas graced the AD's cases.

At least that's what I observed, YMMV.

I had a Pepsi, now own a BLNR. It's honestly "perfect". There's nothing to change. All the colors are punchy, and it goes with everything.

One of Rolex's only true modern classics.

Voted CHNR. Love both, own the CHNR. Vote is unbiased. Some are talking about scratches. You should know stainless PCLs are not going to clean up as easily as the 18k PCLs.

People like me didn’t want to wait for the blnr so got the root beer, I believe that impacts the poll here. Very happy with my blnr now!

I have both and love them very much.

CHNR looks better but it’s more expensive at MSRP.

CHNR by a mile. It's much better in the metal than any photo can convey. It has a warmth and depth to it that can't be appreciated until you wear it and although the colours sound prosaic if you just read them out, they visually blend, enhance each other and pop to great effect.

I've never liked the BLNR. I was offered one by my AD in 2020. I have to give it credit for looking borderline fantastic in person. It really works. I still don't like it enough but I can see why so many people do.

If you like them equally and would find it difficult to choose if offered, you're a winner whichever way you go.
