I much prefer going to the store - more so when there were more watches to try on. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had great experiences with TS . But even w a few of them I prefer in-person.

If Rolex were ever to go on-line direct sales, I suspect it would make it incredibly more difficult for the average person to be able to buy at msrp as they would all end up on the secondary market … way worse than now .

I love and prefer the instore experience, but not always convenient. I have had good luck having watches shipped to me from a phone call and most were perfectly sized.

I've done both. Store is typical preference but it since Delaware has no sales tax, shipping is favorable.

No question at the store, even more so if sizing is necessary.

The most important factor for me would be the sales tax. The in-person store purchase would definitely include sales tax, but often times I have found, thru personal experience, that when purchasing on-line a sales tax was not charged. That amount can be substantial depending upon the price of the watch.

If I buy something expensive, I generally know exactly what I want before purchasing it.

Further, I place no real value in the in-store experience and I prefer to resize the watch myself. Online works fine for me with the stated terms, especially if availability was better online than at a retail store. I can use the time saved for other things.

I 'prefer' purchasing in person.
But I guess I like to purchase 'hard to find' stuff, because it's never available locally.

I would love it if my AD called me up, told me they had a new Rolex for me & since I have been such a great customer, it was FREE!!

Really, would just like to get the call...or like it was in 1986 when I got my 1st Rolex, I walked in, found a watch I liked, got a discount & wore it home.

I am really surprised by how many prefer to do this in-person! (Perhaps over the past few years I have developed an aversion to purchasing in-person when I can have it delivered to my home.)

Out of curiosity for those that strongly prefer to get the watch in-person, when you purchase other relatively expensive things such as electronics, computers, household appliances, or jewelry, do you generally also purchase those in-person?

Go to the store for sure. I understand it’s very unlikely for it to get lost in the mail, and if it did, you’d probably be refunded no problem, but it would still stress me out. That’s a lot of money fit me. That happened to me with a $600 breitling, and it was a hassle to get my money back, eBay set it straight, but it was stressful (turns out there was a mixup at the post office so it said the package was delivered even though it wasn’t)

That environment no longer exists. Back in the good old days that might have been a thing. Today that "Relationship" == "No watch for you!"

I'd prefer it to be like my car purchase
- Test drive somewhere, don't provide any details whatsoever
- Then buy online via "Fleet manager", pay upon delivery

For Rolex I'd visit an AD and try one of their exhibition models, then go home and order online. I have no use whatsoever for the AD or a 'relationship.' It's a transaction, nothing more. I won't be visiting again unless I'm buying a different model or getting service. They're a business, and I'm merely a wallet to them. (And because I'm a "thinner" wallet, I'm on the waitlist for the waitlist...) I size my own watches and can do bracelet swaps. The tools are readily available, there are plenty of YT videos.

The only relationship is the law of supply and demand.

Maybe it’s because my experiences with ADs have never been anything memorable, but if I was able to order a new watch straight from Rolex rather than going to one of their ADs, I’d go that route.

I prefer to go to the store - last two times ive done this ive been served many glasses of Champagne, was given a bottle to take home, and received some "swag" both times.

Cant beat that! I dread a future of the high street just being food joints and everything in our lives being delivered.

If I have to pay state sales tax in either scenario, I prefer brick and mortar.

I was at a Rolex AD in Grand Hyatt BKK many years ago when they actually had stock to sell. I was looking at some subs and the sales lady offered me some scotch. She brought out a bottle of 18 yr old The Macallan and poured a decent amount in a nice crystal glass. I'll stick with the in store experience.

100% online. Same reason Tesla's purchasing model is so popular - dealerships are antiquated business models that do nothing but add cost to the supply chain. I don't need another errand.

But I don't buy BS.

So AD it is.

This. I always enjoy the experience of going in and ,further, I don’t think one can really develop a relationship via the website.

in the store.....i want to see it on my wrist...see if it sings to me...

what if you dont like it, or it doesnt fit...

why waste your time and money, mailing it, pay for it, what if it lost or stolen,

no interaction....online ...that is why people dont know how to act or talk...your at home alone...sad!
