Rolex submariner sapphire

Hey guys,

Just got my Rolex submariner with an out of state dealer hence why I can’t bring it back to them right away.. In direct sunlight my crystal creates like Crescent moons you can see it on the left side, don’t mind the right side as that’s just smudges. The crystal does not have a single scratch. I think it’s reflecting from the crystal it’s self. Has anyone else noticed this, or have this?
Thanks all!

Alena

Does your fingernail catch on any of this area? Wondering if they are scratches. If not maybe the AR coating has been effected?

Hey Carl,
No my finger nail doesn’t catch on it. Im very careful about this watch. I keep it in a watch winder box when not in use. I know it doesn’t have scratches because I bought one of those crazy magnifiers that zoom up like crazy and there is absolutely nothing. It only shows in direct sunlight from certain angles.

Hey all,

Disregard the last post. Just checked all my other Rolex’s and they all have it in direct sunlight. This is just the first sunny day where I live, and happened to notice it.

I've never noticed anything like that on any of my watches. Very interesting. I can for the life of me imagine what that could be other that a polishing artifact of some sort.

My Grand Seiko has it and it’s quite noticeable. It bothers me to the point where I’m planning to take it in for warranty and see what they say. Other black dials I’ve had don’t have this effect, including a 6 digit Sub

I have it in my 124060. AR coating??? Doesn’t bother me, just wondering.

I think it’s the current from the quartz movement activating the metal particles in the AR coating.

Mine does it too. Actually all kinds of crazy refractions from the lume plots too.
