Indentations on Crown?

I was inspecting a white 1680 I bought a while back, I've never worn this watch as it keeps such bad time and getting round to having it serviced has taken a lot longer than I thought... anyway I found that the crown and dots on the crown have indented dots, anyone got any ideas

The dots on the crown are stamped from the backside.

The dots have been ground down on the top and removed all the metal, the holes left are where they were dimpled. Same for the outside coronet tops.

This crown needs to be replaced, there is no repairing it.

Thanks Larry for commenting, this was also my first thought but it just didn't look like over polishing. The holes are perfectly round. not drawn in the direction of the rotation of the wheel as you would expect, the crown is well defined despite obvious wear... I was forced to get the loupe out. The dots with the indentations look like doughnuts. the center appears to have been pressed in not polished away. Very difficult to capture with an iPhone but this is what I got.
