When will the GMT case get 'fixed'?

Several references have undergone facelifts and tummy tucks recently:
- Submariner
- Seadweller
- Explorer 2

We've seen wider lug spacing, wider bracelets, thinner lugs/shoulders, wider cases.

When will all this happen to the GMT? It's still soldiering on with the old Maxi case and has a relatively square profile with larger lugs. Yet it has a new movement and a recently introduced left-hand version. Seems unlikely to change soon.

Predictions?

I can see it now...

The GMT series has had lots of changes every year since the 2018 BLRO was introduced. One would think it will eventually follow the evolution of its brothers but I think it’s still a few years away.
A wildcard move though could be next…allowing the new lefty to be the swan song of the current version and an all new case in the next two years.

They slimmed the lugs in 2018. Already the new 70 hour movement. Next to my 41sub we are talking about a hairline difference. Maybe not for years. Daytona most likely will have their change next for their anniversary next year.

Fixed your typo.

But I have not seen any evidence of that 'slimming.' People will swear on their mother's grave that the latest models have slim lugs but when asked to post a side-by-side pic or bring out the calipers..... crickets.

There has been no slimming.

I hate it when Rolex slimes things.

The GMT case will get massaged to look better like the current Sub41. Rolex is only going to trickle out changes over a long period of time. Look how long the latest Sub41 took to get the new movement compared to when the GMT got it. The same time frame will be for the GMT case update. And everyone is desperate wishing for a micro glidelock clasp adjustment for the GMT.

I have both and really can’t tell a difference with the lugs. I do prefer the smaller GMT case.

116710 and 126710 both look great anyway so who knows and who cares?

Of course, complete speculation and acrimony are sure to fill up the thread, lol

I have a couple of GMT’s and never thought once that the lugs are too fat

Have a 116710BLNR and 126710BLNR .
I cant tell the difference .

Overall,I find the GMT smaller wearing compared to 11 and 12 series Subs.
Prefer the feel of the Subs.Large wrists.

One of the reasons why I bought my CHNR was to be one step ahead before they ruin it with ‘new’ lugs and a wider bracelet with bigger clasp like they molested the Subs
