I got to add, while insurance safe guards your assets monetarily. It doesn't prevent you from receiving physical harm (unlikely as it may be, it happens).

Just because you have insurance, it doesn't make you invincible.

So I also don't understand people's notion of saying "as long as you have insurance..."

I wear my watches everywhere (other than obvious areas even in my home city). There is a time and place and ultimately it comes down to a personal comfort level. If you have reservations and doubts, just keep your toys at home and enjoy the main purpose of the trip! It's truly not worth your safety or your family's safety in any circumstances.

In Europe, be highly aware of pickpockets. The snatch and grab of necklaces, purses/bags are real as well from the 2nd rider on the back of a scooter or motorbike.

33%: It's fine. Do it!

33%: It's risky. Don't do it!

33%: It's kinda fine and kinda risky!

Welp. Problem solved.

Jokes aside. I wear a Rolex when I travel. I usually travel with at least one other (less valuable/desirable) watch too, so that if I'm doing a lot of public transportation, or getting drunk in sketchy 'hoods I can plan accordingly...(I'll be in Rome and Naples in September and will absolutely bring my GMT...along with a Tudor per above...)

As others have said: Just use common sense and enjoy your watches.

I too, wear a Rolex on nearly all my travels, but only bring one watch. Never more.

I believe while traveling, a watch is much safer on your wrist than in a hotel safe.

Those safes only keep the honest people out.

I wouldn’t especially Rome.
Lately, my favorite travel watch has been the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80hrs power reserve in blue; affordable, available classy and reliable.
