If it’s for touristy stuff, save the stress and wear a low profile watch. What’s the benefit of wearing your Rolex when sightseeing and all the dodgy characters in all the tourist traps will immediately focus on your wrist. Not worth it.

This thread is funny in a sad way. The most common "solution" is to leave the watch at home so you have nothing the thieves desire. What happens if they desire your wife, or your daughter? How will you protect them?

I carry a pistol so I can fight my way back to my rifle in my vehicle. You may scoff at me and call me paranoid. I'm not paranoid about anything, I'm prepared for everything.

That won’t work in Barcelona though…

Also, it will be more complex to ‘steal’ a person than a watch or wallet?

Do not get a false sense of security in the airport the cameras and police do little to deter thieves once you are beyond customs on arrival. Just got back from Barcelona this week. Saw a guy get his phone snatched out of his hands while eating in the market on Las Ramblas.
