Congratulations!

I have found my WG gmt to be more scratch resistant than my YG Daytona.

I don't have the Daytona but the WG GMT. I don't have any issues with it or see anymore scratches than my steel watches.

I'm careful with all my watches, but my 116508 YG Daytona has held up as well as my SS.

Gold no matter the brand or colour common sense should tell you gold being a softer metal than say SS it will scratch more easily in normal wearing.

Congrats on the pick up! I'm super careful with mine and have had it for a couple years but the only area that is prone to light scratches is the polished center of the deployment clasp when latched over on the wrist. Maybe you can ask your AD if they can leave that part of the plastic on when you get to take that beauty home!

I wouldn't try out for an NHL team with it on...but it scratches just like all of them do....maybe a little bit easier but if it does get scratched just tell folks that you are going for the Paul Newman look...

Congrats. Does it really matter? Are you not going to buy depending on how it shows scratches? You’ll find out once you start wearing it.

I have the 116519 and do find it more prone to scratches than SS. And also more prone than YG, but that could be my imagination.

Congrats on the watch! Welcome to the club!! I own the 116519. First few weeks, the centerlink of the clasp is a scratch magnet with swirls and hairline scratches. After the initial scratches, I feel it settles down and you can really enjoy the watch.

My grail watch!

Love the 116509.
I’m watching like 4 of them right now.
They’re all international though.
And I’m leaning the toward the red sub markers over the silver.
A lot of pics make them look black straight on. But they’re all silver.

The racing dial was such a cool look. I like the panda the best. But grey looks good on a strap.

I wear mine when I travel, so more prone to some scratches on side of the case and the clasp (ceramic bezel is great). Have some swirls on the left side of the case, probably from cuffs and a small scratch down the length of it when flying and wasn’t careful when going through the door :). Otherwise, all good.

Are you talking about the version with ceramic bezel and OF strap? It's practically bullet proof, IMO. I don't get the concern.

Really, the big concern with the Daytona (from those that care about such things), is the bezel, followed by scratches on the PCL's. The bezel, in particular, shows scratches like a mofo. Always has and always will. Which explains, in part, the crazy popularity the 116500 has enjoyed since its introduction to the line.

The 519 builds on that by taking scratches on the PCL's out of the equation as well. The only thing left is the clasp, and I'm just gonna say it. If something comes along that scratches gold, odds are it will steel, too.

Seems like everything scratches the polished center links, even airborne dust. The clasp will have a fine patina of hairlines in a few weeks. Even clothing will scratch. The watch actually looks great once it's broken in and has light marks all over. When the watch is serviced, a light polish removes them all, but they just come back. A DayDate is a much better option if scratches are a concern.

Agree, the buckle is the most prone part to scratches

It is WG so it is softer than steel, will have swirls just from looking at it.

Just do not think about it, wear it and enjoy it. Every 10 years get it spiffed up to look like new.
