Seiko's an incredible brand with a rich history, appealing designs, innovation, and of course exceptional value. The brand represents so much more for me and I'm proud to have a few in my collection.

As indicated by above postings, you can have many Seiko watches without hurting your bank balance, or your relationship with the wife.

something for everyone. There's no snobbery, gateway to entry, etc. Some of the limited Grand seikos are getting a little harder to obtain, but for the most part if you see something you like, you can actually buy it. Tons of history, etc. If you want perfection and high end there is credor and the masterpiece grand seiko collection. Something for everyone.

Over the years, Seiko has made big improvements on the quality of their watches. Very impressive for what you get for the price. Price range vary for everyone's budget and they have rather cool vintage models out there.

Simple. Beautiful watches and fantastic movements.
Tbh I’ve always had an appreciation for Grand Seiko but never really ‘got it’ until I saw the Skyflake for the first time. I was actually out looking at Glashutte Original, JLC and Cartier….trying to find something a bit more dressy, GS wasn’t even on my radar until I saw it in store…..I was just blown away so went home with it! |

Because I love the attention to detail that Japanese culture brings to the market.

[Great post! So true
QUOTE=Greglaw;12068301]Because you can actually get them, they are as good if not better than the hyped Swiss watches (0f which I have had many, and I mean many) the owners are not snobs, they are reliable, fun, cool, attractive, you can beat the crap out of them, and they just get better, we don’t have to listen or read the owners’ posts about investments, small scratches, can you do (Fill in the blank) with your seiko, you can have one or several and they are affordable...or you can buy higher end pieces and still not listen to drivel from the owners, they come in a myriad of sizes, we don’t have to listen to the bs about “my SA” “my AD” you don’t have to buy other jewelry to get one, build a faux relationship with your alleged AD or SA, or be annoyed by those silly abbreviations, or whether it is Mark I or II or XXX... owners love them for what they are, they aren’t fodder for bragging, be put down by the cool kids cuz you complain that they aren’t available, and you can get new or vintage or used all for relatively reasonable prices, you don’t have to worry about condescending arrogance about the intricacies of your seiko from people who cut and paste or parrot the internet about movements, you don’t have to come up with fake posts about going places and worrying about your Seiko, or sadly, what you deem to be real posts about the same...huh...gee, I am sure that I have a few more ideas...but, damn it felt good to type this!! think I will wear my cool King Turtle or Flightmaster tomorrow![/QUOTE]

I own two Seiko's, the Seiko Prospex Marinemaster SLA023J1 and the Seiko Prospex Marinemaster TUNA Padi Limited Edition SBBN039. Both survived my great watch purge that my 2 Rolexes and 4 Grand Seiko's, Navitimer, Seamaster, Speedmaster Pro and a couple of others did not. |

Why? Because they make great watches. But also because, I think the Swiss need a viable competitor that will keep them on their toes. It's good for both watch making regions to be competing with each other, and ultimately good for the consumer.
I don't want to return the to the old days of, unreliable, staid, boring Swiss mechanical watches made by arrogant watch mavens that couldn't be bothered with innovation, and thumbed their noses at non-Swiss watchmakers....before they go their rear-ends handed to them. That come to papa moment was ultimately good for mechanical watchmaking. |

For me it's the empecable quality of the Grand Seiko. Everything is absolutely perfect, outstanding movement engineering that's not stuck in 1920. They strive for performance, durability and very long lasting quality. Pride in there product.
Seiko I like for the value and verity. I also like how Seiko under rates the capabilities of there watches while others over rates. Excellent products.

Appreciate the vast range of entry divers Seiko has to offer without breaking the bank. Their entry movement is also super robust and most likely last many years.

My dad passed his daily wear 6139-6005 to me about 10 years ago and that was my gateway drug to this hobby.
