Thank you all for the gracious and kind comments!

My unsolicited thought: I’d trade the OP towards a classic Day Date 36. Then quit the forum so temptation stops :)
I have tried on some older DD36 in the past but oddly found them just a wee bit too small and ratt-ly for my taste. Also, that eliminates the "base" Rolex which I am inclined to wear into the office most often.

Fantastic collection. I don't blame you for being done with the AD games. They are not fun even a little. Which of these beauties do you wear the most? I quite like the Sky Dweller.

Nice Rolex collection.

When I look at that pic, I can't help but feel that a Hulk + BLNR combo is all a man really needs.

Actually hold on. The stool may be able to fit one more Day Date. Perhaps if things go well the next few years (and if my one of my AD decides to make me a happy man)

Great collection. Very well balanced

As to your mindset I’m very much the same. A lot has changed in our hobby as you well know, being we have similar join dates here on TRF, and I agree with your sentiments.

There’s maybe and I mean maybe 1-2 left that I would like but they will have to be from my A D. No longer chasing anything bad enough to go Grey.

One might also be a DD as well. Who knows. I don’t have a nice stool but I did snap a pic of my core collection. The models that actually get worn. Some more than others

Very nice collection. I just got my first Submariner 41mm SS Black Dial a few months ago. No other brands in your collection or is that stool for Rolex only? LOL

Great collection, no need to continue to “play the game” once you have won!

I wonder how many repeat buyers (who are not hypebeasts who feed the Grey Monster) are basically retiring from buying more from the Crown because of the current games.

I 100% agree, I don't have the time or energy to chase the AD. Before Covid there was cases full of watches. I'll wait till that comes back. I think it should come soon.

Yes so much has changed over the last decade. Most used SS Rolex were below retail then, and with discounts at AD very possible. Then it got to a point where DJ were the "pre-requisite" to getting a steel sports model. And here we are today.

Btw, that isn't a nice stool -- my wife uses it for a potted plant. I just needed something to put the watches on

I have a few others; I have gone through a lot over the years. They don't all fit in this box, but I honestly would like to condense all into a solid 8 grail watch box, and maybe 3 daily-able wearers.

I think there are a fair number of us. The "games" have gotten... very tiring. But as some of us get tired of the chase, there are always others who join in this hobby.

I have considered exactly that -- but just couldn't work out for me. It is too few. My goal is 8+3; 8 grails and 3 dailies!

I’ve been into (and knowledgeable about) watches since I was a kid, but by the time I was a grown adult out of college, Rolex had started its new games, so getting one has never been an option unfortunately. (I wouldn’t consider having to bribe an AD or pay tribute to a grey; feels like a lack of self-respect.) So some of us can’t join even though under other circumstances we’d be able to.

It’s kind of surreal because while I was still a student, Rolex hadn’t started the underproduction garbage yet so AD cases were full of every model and greys were where you got a discount, not a double MSRP premium!
