What would you say on PCL? Yes or No?

Regards,

A controversy? Really?

If you like the watch / hate the bracelet don’t buy it. Or...brush the bracelet or swap it out.

I like it in a collection, but for me it would be a tough one watch to have with PCLs. I would get way too many scratches.

Makes a ton of sense to me. One reason I love the jubilee on my GMT.

Controversial? No. Just preferences.
That being said, I despise the PCLs. My current plan is to have 3 Rolexes. The Explorer 2 and OP41 I already have and the Sub I’m waiting on. What do they all have in common? No PCLs.

I’ve owned both and am firmly of the view that Oyster bracelets should not have PCL for steel models. With gold and half gold, the metal is even softer and more scratch prone but these models tend to to be less workhorse orientated.

The aesthetic preference for one over the other comes down to individual tastes but in general I get the impression that PCL lovers do not usually hate a brushed finish but brushed finish lovers do often hate PCLs. So Rolex would please more people with brushed finishes.

From a practical perspective PCLs tend to cause scratch anxiety so the ownership satisfaction is not as high.

And my observation is that if you do actually wear your watch every day and in a variety of situations that you would expect a steel sports watch to be used for then the PCLs will quickly become a mass of swirls and scratches that make the watch look a bit tired and old. The brushed finish hides this very well meaning that your watch will look much fresher and crisper. The problem is that people who like the look of PCLs like them when they are in good condition but your watch will not stay that way.

Finally brushed Oyster bracelets are the traditional Rolex look. PCLs don’t have the history and I associate them with other brands such as Breitling. When the PCLs first appeared on the GMT it changed the “DNA” of that model.

I like it, and it suits the modern Rolex. If I wanted a brushed SS sports watch, honestly I’m just going to get a Tudor, which feels more like a vintage Rolex anyway.

I’ve changed my opinion since my SeaQ with polished center links. I really like it, but still if given the option I’d rather have brushed.

Depends on the watch. Love it on Datejust and Milgauss and similarly styled watches.

However of more true sports professional watches Sub, GMT, Daytona etc… not so much.

I prefer how Omega does them on their flat link bracelets…. Polished outers and brushed centers

I don’t believe the PCLs suit the traditional sports watch - having said that I was drawn to TT GMT and YM so what do I know (shrug).
That being said for Subs/DS definitely not PCL - it wouldn’t be fitting.
The Sky Dweller - jubilee all the way.
My Breitling was so shiny it got switched from the pilot to a Breitling rubber strap.

I have the PCL's on the rose gold CHNR. They do get scratched easily. I have a love hate relationship with them.

I like whatever happens to be OE. Brushed or PCL isn't a deciding factor for me.
