when did they stop putting lug holes on rolex cases?

when/what year did they stop putting lug holes on cases of subs, GMT, expys and DJs? are lug holes desirable? and why did they eliminate it with newer versions? because i can see in the pre-owned market some examples with or without lug holes..thanks

For most or many of the sports models it was 2002, around the mid Y serial. Some people like the holes as they make removing the bracelet easier and look more classic. Others prefer the clean no-holes look. Mid A, P, K to mid Y is preferred by many on the models that offer holes and solid end links during that period.

.

Manufacturing and distribution of non lug-holes cases started at the end of 1994 for the Oyster models (AK/DJ/OP/Lady/LadyDJ) as well as the Explorer.

It was followed at the end of 2002 by the same thing for professionnal models (ExploII/GmtII/SubDate/SD).

You're talking about the 116520.

The Sub always had lug holes until the new ceramic model last year

Why? Is there something wrong with the fact it took me over a half hour to change from my bracelet to a rubberb??

14060M Last Submariner with Drilled Holes () NO DATE MODEL

classic four line model
is the last of the last

If you have the Submariner Date model the last one with Drilled holes is
around 2003.

But I would like to get a confirmation from the collector world,..

when was the last year the Submariner Date had drilled holes

The most classic I think is the V serial # from 2008.

It was also in this time frame a trasition into my favorite half pound Rolex

The 16610LV, which was released in 2003, never came with drilled lugs. so in 2003 you could still find some 16610LN releases either way.

Rolex seldom did anything without carryover, but in the case of the LV, they began production with solid lugs and never looked back.

That’s not correct

14060 = Drilled Lugs
114060 = Sealed Lugs
124060 = Sealed Lugs

Lug holes and SELs = A, P, K, and sometimes Y…

But always on the 14060M, and never SELs.

You should read the entire thread to put the quote you cited in context.

What you state was mentioned several times in the entire conversation.
