No more Rolex??

I have experienced Rolex with a Submariner, DateJust, Explorer 1 and my wife's DateJust. I think I am done with Rolex, not because I think there is anything wrong with them, there's not. It is because there are so many other brands out there that I want to try. You don't have to spend multi-thousands of dollars to get a great watch, feel free to do so if you choose to. There are a lot of quality watches on the market that are well respected, Tutima, Stowa and Hamilton come to mind, as does Hanhart and Ball.

True, they are 100's of brands out there, but I can not think of any that appreciate as an asset the same way a Rolex does.

A Rolex is a Rolex, the rest are just watches.

I'm kind of the opposite. Once I got my Speedmaster Professional and Explorer 1, which were grail watches for me, nothing really interests me anymore. There are watches I like, yes, but not enough to buy them...and some of those watches are inexpensive.

I'm interested in a few JLC offerings, GS and Doxa, but I won't be purchasing anything...at least for awhile.

Yup, those TT laides DJs are fantastic investments.

Very few modern Rolex are 'good ' investments, and even the ones that are pose too much risk, as in all your eggs in one basket.

If you want to invest, buy an ETF or real estate.

Nothing has the same wrist appeal and value retention as Rolex, just stay away from those TT ladies DJs! LOL!

I think it's great to look and own other brand time pieces regardless of brand.

I have many more watches than I have wrists but some for me any way get more wrist time than others but the others are not forgotten at all.

Enjoy the new watches.

I have some nice Rolex’s (Daytona, SD, sub), I always hankered after a speedmaster. I Finally got one and absolutely love it. I’d never get rid of my Rolex’s and think the are a step above, yet I do love that speedmaster.... it’s nice to have a choice at the end of the day. Just expand on your current collection

Agree.. So many fish in the pond.. please venture out! Don't stick to just 1 brand ever especially when it's so difficult to get one!

Buy a watch because you love it, not because you might lose cash on it. That way you will be liberated

Go after what sings to you. Rolex, Patek or Timex, doesn’t matter, what matters is you being happy with what you get and wear
Good luck!

I have 80+ watches.

Only a few are Rolex.

I would never divulge this on TRF.

There are better watches available than Rolex at the same price points from many brands. Grand Seiko is the brand that always turns my head - they just exude quality, engineering and craftsmanship.

With that said, no other brand - for me - has what has Rolex has... the intangible, heart over head thing that is subjective. I prefer to have only one (or two) fine watches, and for that reason I will always choose Rolex - because it is Rolex.

True, plenty of great watches out there - but they are too easy to procure them and then you lose 30-40% as soon as you wear them. It is tough to find another watch brand that hold their value like a Rolex does.

There are indeed tons of other options in lots of price brackets. One buyer less won't ease the Rolex supply situation but every little helps.

As above, there's something intangible about Rolex that keeps me going back. Can't explain it but it feels right. But not to the exclusion of other makes and models. I like the variety.

Rolex design is very conservative. You can easily get a “been there, done that” with Rolex as they don’t look that much different or really change from what they have always looked like in decades.

As someone else suggested on the thread, pick up a Speedmaster. It’s so iconic and finds a place in every collection. I couldn’t stop at just one. I’ve now got six Speedmasters and waiting on a seventh.
