Are you sure it will be appreciated? The effort won't be worth it if the dude just ends up pawning it..

Honestly, I wouldn't buy either unless the person was a known watch fan.

$2K gift card and be done with it. Save some coin.

DJ if you insist...

TRF I need your advice !!

If the employee is out there representing you and the company, then a nice watch is a great gift amongst friends (and not an income to be tax on,) and something that will look good on your representative.

A non-WIS will more than likely enjoy DJ more than a sub. ( see the new post I made in my hulk vacation thread about DJ36 encounter. )

OP, it's still early going but your actions definitely put you at the top for boss of the year. Excellent recognition, and I'm sure it will only motivate them more. I would say sub for the first one. Iconic, and what the brand is best known for in terms of heritage.

I vote Blue DJ 41.
Is that not an option?

Why not give him a voucher for a watch of his choice in a specific price-range?

I think if it's a DJ it will be appreciated as it's a model one can have for life and wear at their own pleasure.
Especially if it's a Smooth bezel on Oyster due to the outright versatility. IMO, the DJ 41 would be a better choice in that regard.
Clean, tidy and classy without being too out there.

Of course, the long term appreciation factor all depends upon the circumstances under which they ultimately part company over.

The gesture is great

PM'ed you my resume.
Agreed

The DJ is a gift for life no matter what the age of the recipient.
As long as the blue dial suits the employee and their choice in clothes, then it's all good

The best part about the DJ is the variety of standard dial colours to choose from.

Between these two, I’d go Sub.

I am sure a lot of us here are on incentive comp plans where our bonuses are more than the cost of a sub. OP probably is getting away cheaper by gifting a sub instead of giving a bonus although I know not his intention
