The "underrated" Rolex thread

Let's see your underrated Rolex watch and WHY you feel it is so.

For me, it's the white stick / white dial DJ41 for a couple of reasons. First, I think people tend to associate the DJ with a fluted bezel, and the jubilee / smooth combination is a bit less common than others (IMO). I chose this specific configuration to further differentiate it from my DD40 and sport models and I'm very glad that I did. Second, and the biggest reason why I think it is underrated, is because of the seemingly bland dial configuration. This watch just does not photograph as well as it should; I know many gravitate towards the blue or black dial variant of the DJ, but you really need to see this one live before making judgement.

Like my Hulk, I never cared for this white-dialed model until I saw it in person, and that's when I knew I immediately had to have it. Dare I say I get as much enjoyment wearing this as any other watch in my collection? Yes - it's true! It actually got more attention from me as an exhibition piece during my visit to the AD to pickup the Tiffany OP41 than that watch did.

I just can't say enough good things about this watch and really encourage others to checkout the white on white DJ if able. Having said all that, what model do you absolutely love that others might not hold in such high regard?

It's funny - we have similar wrist sizes and I find 36mm too small!

SD 16600 flies below the radar, but it’s a wonderful watch with tremendous toughness and technical capability.

The "underrated" Rolex thread

Underrated watch that draws a lot of criticism including “Only 1000 gauss? Omega entry level is 15,000!”, “The lightning seconds hand is childish”, “It’s thick”, “It’s top heavy” and so on...

However, the faraday cage (though antiquated) coupled with the parachrom blu hairspring results in a much higher magnetic resistance than its namesake. The lightning seconds hand is unique in the luxury watch world. At 13mm, it’s no thicker than the majority of Omegas. Also, as someone who has worn the watch for a few years now, have always felt it to be as comfortable as any other modern Rolex.

Milgauss are now the over inflated watch....gone from £7k to £13k in a month so someone must rate them.

I would agree - the TWO-TONE Daytona is underrated, not the model itself.

Everyone flocks to the SS variety but two-tone is more shunned, thus the under-appreciation.

Any dj41. I personally love the diamond markers on the DJ line.

100% this! Love the blue dial and orange accents!

116600 and even 116660 don’t really get the love they deserve. Blue dial DSSD is cooler than a Batman GMT… There, I SAID IT!!!

My most underrated watch would probably be this DJ41.

Wanted the modern look of the Oyster with smooth bezel, but I had no Romans in the collection so I wanted Romans too. Always wanted a white dial, since white dial goes with everything. Love white dial watches, such a nice change from all the black dial SS watches (not that those are bad - just after something a little different).

I admit its probably an odd combination for most people, but I fell in love when I saw it.

Looking at the availability and wait times of Rolex's whole catalog, there literally isn't any such thing as an underrated Rolex anymore. Go try and buy an Airking see how that works out. A white DJ on jubilee is a hot model today.
But I guess if you own up and down the price list, to Lebron James a tiffany OP is underrated.

This looks huge indeed.
It’s a no brainer you’re better off with a 36mm.

I could understand that. Pictures sometimes skew what the actual watch looks like on the wrist, depending on angle.

I've tried 36 before and it just wasn't for me. My sweet spot is really 38-42mm.

116710LN chose this because it is very underrated. Doesn't get nearly as much love as the Batman, Rootbeer, Pepsi but looks equally amazing. Black is classic with the Rolex green GMT hand.

It's true that there is distortion on most pictures due to focal lengths. Closer up photos usually suggest the watch fits 'better'.

what size is your wrist?
