Meanwhile, Rolex will continue pumping out 1 million + watches a year no matter what is going on in the market.

Really? Not a single blue SS Sky Dweller for sale at Watchfinder in the UK, or full RG with slate dial. Maybe they don't want to sell their multiples and are pretending not to have any. Stranger things have happened. Although if this is the case, what do they know that you don't?

The numbers of Rolex watches that are presented on Chrono24 are going up every day in the last 2 months.
Time will tell but i would have been careful in paying high premium on book prices.

Great first post. I think mine was a humble question but this expert just schooled us with a full market analysis.

I predict it’ll pick up again from late summer through autumn and winter

It's all downhill from here!

The sentiment has changed. 2020 is long gone now. Interest rates are going higher, there's no free money pouring in each month and most of the buyers are fed up with Rolex AD BS by this time.

Most of the dealers are offering less and less money for your Daytona or GMT as they are full of the stock. There's also much less new buyers willing to pay 300% premium.

What we will see by the end of 2023 is that you will probably be able to buy any GMT that you like within 6 months of waiting period, if not less.

It will just take some time for the flippers who now makes 99% of the AD waiting list to realize they can't make the profits they used to, and they will be gone like a fart in the wind from those waiting lists they have clogged.

My friend offered a Brand new Bluesy to a grey dealer this week and was offered 2000 pounds more than he paid from the AD.
If people are making quick profits like that on a watch that isnt too hard to get then the prices aren't about to drop anytime soon

Don’t think Watchfinder tells the whole story. They are known to keep inventory back.
If you check on chrono there are >30 blue sky dwellers available- which again doesn’t;t tell the whole story- but if you want the watch, it’s there.

An AD I visited recently had nothing but exhibiition pieces. No idea about the GMs however. If prices are dropping then it's a bad time to be one.

Welcome to the forum.

It’s hard to predict the inventory of grey dealers unless
you work for one and have inside knowledge.

Now you have to buy jewellery and other brands to get the non professional models to work your up to the SS models.

When things get back to some sense of normalcy you’ll have to buy that DJ, DD,TT or ladies piece in the cabinet to get that GMT or even a sub… otherwise the AD will return to the deals they had with greys pre COVID…
