1951 Hamilton "Brent" tank watch

Recently, I started looking for a 40s or 50s Hamilton gold filled tank watch similar to the Hamilton my dad wore from the time I was a toddler until he died in 1978. I came across an ebay store which apparently specializes in restoring, servicing, and then selling these at reasonable prices. I chose this 1951 14 k gold filled "Brent" model that looks like it's brand new; it must have been in someone's safe deposit box for decades. It's a little newer than I'd have preferred, but otherwise checked all the boxes. It looks very much like Dad's watch.

It's weird being the same age as old people.

Beautiful watch!!!! I have my Dad's Hamilton from the mid 40's. He received it as either a HS or college graduation present. It may be a "Brock," not sure. I heard that Hamilton named some of their models after their employees. Enjoy that beauty!!!

Thank You! I wondered about the model name. It's engraved inside the case back. I thought it was an odd name for a watch, but naming them after employees makes sense.

Thanks, Brian. My 1675 is long gone and I was kicking myself soon after I sold it. I've got a 16710 GMT II now and plan to kick the bucket with it on my wrist.

The box arrived yesterday and is in such deplorable condition it's not even worth taking a photo. It's just the cardboard outer box which is bent and torn in several places. The good news is it was only $11.

I found another early fifties Hamilton inner and outer box that appears to be in much better shape and ordered it, so I'll wait for it before taking pictures. I did manage to salvage the label from the Brent box and can reuse it.

The box set arrived and the Brent fits perfectly. I scanned the Brent label from the first (unusable) box and replaced the original Watch Number and Case Number on the label with the numbers on my watch so the numbers on the box match the numbers of my watch. There was even a warranty card!

Great pick up! I dig the old watches, especially when restored beautifully like yours. Congratulations
