I got a 36mm DJ last year, and opted for the 16200 because I wanted a used DJ, and didn’t want the polished lugs or PCL that the 6-digit DJs have. While I love the watch itself, I haven’t really bonded with it because I find the 5-digit Oyster bracelet lacking in functionality. It’s rattly (it makes noise every time I flick or turn my wrist) and the clasp isn’t super sturdy for active sports. I also can’t quite get a good fit on it around my wrist, even after taking out all of the adjustable links.

I then got an older Air King 114200 as a weekend watch, as I figured a 6-digit, 34mm no-date reference would fit the bill. It has far exceeded my expectations. Its 6-digit clasp is fantastic, and I wear it hiking etc. The irony is that I wanted a no-date watch for the weekends, but I find myself missing the date feature.

The DJ is a dressier watch, so I continue to wear it to work, but the AK just feels so much better on my wrist than the DJ.

Lack of quick-release spring bars. And Toto too!

I mean and Tudor too.

Would have preferred the Daytonas slightly larger..
Reverse time setting on a 3235 .Coarse winding feel .
Date size on the DSSD (Larger on the 13 series)
Non-glidelock bracelets .Why I will always prefer Subs over GMTs.
Crown size on the Expl II

The only thing I hate about Rolex is that they are too expensive for me to add more to my collection.

Will I say I hate the watch or the feeling?

Due to the recent cases of insecurity and watch thieves, it’s becoming uncomfortable to wear mine and that feeling of satisfaction is sort of on a decline and it’s more of an increased sense of alertness.

Lack of a date on the OP or any other dress watch besides an £8k DJ

I really dislike the glidelock on my 116619LB.
It looks off and and way too big for me.

I think a white gold buckle from another model would be a sleek upgrade. I toyed around with the idea on my 12 series YG. It is so damn inelegant compared to a DD or other brands.

I did fit an Easy link Oyster clasp on my YM for the same reason. Really happy with the look and not having this huge clasp.

Finding one in WG is not so easy unfortunately.

The hyper awareness is something that bothers me as well. There was a time I really didn’t care - they were just nice watches. Nowadays I always have to be very aware about my surroundings. Eg, wearing long sleeve shirts in London during summer sucks.

The only thing I dislike about all my Rolex is how seemingly buttery soft 904L is.
Look at it and it's scratched.

I just can’t imagine a gold watch that costs over 30k with a closed case back. Isn’t Rolex literally one of the few company in the world that makes such expensive watches where you can’t see the movement?

But also the steel Datejust, GMT Master and Daytona should have an open caseback for the price. It’s really weird when you think about it and compare it to basically any other brand.

The security thing. The need for looking over your shoulder, wear long sleves and wear a gshock if you are out late.

Rolex movements work great, but are not pretty. Plus they add thickness to a watch.

Either way this watch is a stunner and isn’t going anywhere!

One of the reasons I liked my 16700 and disliked my 16570. Right now the only objections I have to my watches are the heavy weight and price on my 116506. Hate is an awfully strong word.

I have to say, I don’t “hate” anything about my watch. It’s the most capable, durable watch I’ve ever owned.

If I had to change something I’d have solid links and end links.

Beyond that it’s perfect!! Only way it gets better is when I find a 16618lb for under 22k.

Rolex dials seem a little crowded with all the text that they put on there. The Daytona has 5 lines of text. As much as I love the watch, it's a bit excessive.

My two main “hates” are the lack of glidelock on every model and lack of exhibition case back.

What I hate is how Rolex can't figure out how to make the Rolex on the crown sit straight up when fully closed , aside from the sky dweller I believe

99 model Datejust. I don’t like the glare on the date window. Love everything else about the watch.

Just be glad you don't own a Rolex, or any watch, that has neither a quick-set date nor a setting for advancing the hour hand independently.

I love both these watches, but setting the date is a major hassle and because of their age, I usually just wait to wear them when the date is close already, so as not to over stress the movement.

I wear polos almost every day - short sleeve. Never felt in danger. London is no worse than other cities - everyone wears a Rolex these days. I’ve walked past 2 Batmans, 1 polar and a Daytona, 5 digit sub today, within 200 meters. Everyone in short sleeves. Asked a guy for a light a while later - black gmt on nato.

Grady, do you wear two different watches to the bowling alley on the same day or do you have a bowling alley in your house?

Up until this summer, I bowled several times a week and sometimes I bowled two leagues in one day, besides taking a weekly lesson.

A number of factors came together a couple of months ago that caused me to give up the game completely, but I still have these pictures stored on imgur, so I just recycle them.

Maybe when I find activities to replace bowling, I'll take a bunch of new pictures.

Edit:

I just noticed that they both show the same date, but that is just coincidence.

Yeah, my comment was just based on the date but I noticed different lanes in the pics so didn’t know if you played tournaments or whatever.

Sorry to hear about your loss of the game. I suck at it but it’s still fun occasionally.

I hope you can get back in to it soon!!
