Trifecta incoming, aeronautical heavy & AD dealings.

It’s been a while since I posted an incoming, so these are the last three watches I was able to acquire via my AD’s over the last few months. The SS Pepsi and Daytona were from AD A and the Meteorite Pepsi was from AD B

I must admit the Pepsi was never on my radar. I remember reading posts on the forum, the BLRO is overrated and the colorful bezel makes it look like a whimsical child’s toy, awful pink and purple, girls colors, etc, etc. Well, all that changed for me once my close friend took delivery of his BLRO, and once I saw it on his wrist I had to have one. I prefer watches with contrast and since the bezel colors are different from the dial, the watch just pops big time! I was able to acquire 7 watches from AD A over the last three years and I informed him I wanted a Pepsi in the summer of 2021 and he added me to his list and told me to expect a six to eight month wait. We had a phone conversation in February and he told me nothing has come in and it's still going to be a while and said to me it’s a balancing act. I stopped in and had a conversation with him when I was in the area about a month later and asked him about the balancing act and he explained to me that he tries to honor his waiting list customers, but six-figure jewelry sales and special occasions take priority. Ultimately my wait time ended up amounting to about a year.

I was content with my collection including what I had incoming down the road, but then around December or January, the Meteorite Pepsi came into view. Being a diehard PM man it checked a lot of boxes for me. I remember seeing Jay’s posts (Jaysolution) and after a number of conversations with him, he pushed me over the edge, and the quest began. I called AD A and told him to add me to his list, he told me he only received one since they were released and he had many on his list well ahead of me.

I contacted my SA at AD B also around the first of the year and told him I wanted a Meteorite Pepsi, he told me he will add me to his list, and about two weeks later he told me I was number six, what a disappointment. On 5/14 I took my wife in as we were celebrating our 16th anniversary and told her to pick something out. She saw a pave diamond butterfly she liked, so she tried it on and said this is it. I told my SA she is wearing her white gold chains and when we get home if it does not look right or fit with her yellow gold chains can it be returned, he said yes but let me know by next Friday. As we were leaving I saw the Ad principal, I haven't seen him in a few years. I showed him the pendant we purchased and told him we were celebrating our 16th anniversary. I reminded him about 8 years ago I gave him a receipt for a Seiko watch I purchased when I was in high school when his first store opened when he was just starting out, well before he was a Rolex dealer. While my wife stood in front of him I pointed out all the items she was wearing that I purchased from him, and told him over the last few years I was unable to purchase a Rolex from his store, I told him I was on his waiting list for a Meteorite Pepsi and would appreciate anything he could do to make that happen. My SA called me the following Saturday at 4:30 and inquired how the butterfly worked out, I told him my wife loved it and we are keeping it, he then told me my Meteorite Pepsi arrived, I was stunned, and the rest is history with a meteorite on my wrist. While my AD was sizing my watch I asked him how many Meteorite Pepsi's he gets in a year, he told me one, while twenty-four SS Daytona's. When he escorted me out of the boutique section he saw one of his Rolex customers, he asked me to show him my new watch, I did a quick scan of his wrist and he was wearing a BLRO Jubilee, I showed him my watch and he looked at my wrist, looked at me and said so you're one of the chosen few. That's exactly how I felt, with an attitude of gratitude and grateful to my AD for making this Rolex purchase one I will never forget.

To put things in perspective, I have a close friend in Pennsylvania who has a long-standing relationship with an AD who has been in business for decades. He has purchased jewelry, multiple Rolex watches as well as other brands, and has always inquired about a GMT or Daytona. This AD finally gave him a timeline with an estimated delivery of two to three years for a GMT and five to eight for a SS Daytona, Wow!!!

The last pic in keeping with the aeronautical theme is my Dad disembarking a plane in Nice, France in the late 50’s he is on the left, who is next to him on the right? I asked my Dad how he got the pic, he told me he questioned one of the photographers and got the address to the newspaper office he worked at. Rest in peace Dad!!

I know many are wondering in regards to my latest incomings…. Yes, box and papers Bro times three!!

Wishing my Forum Family a safe and relaxing Labor Day Weekend!!

Welcome to the Meteorite GMT club. Glad to hear that your AD principal took care of you after that conversation. Another reason to keep patronizing their business. Enjoy it.

Wow awesome stuff !! Big congrats and I enjoyed reading through it

Nothing like buying a piece you truly want from AD.. I’ve be fortunate enough to experience that many times - and I’ve got my stainless steel Daytona as one of them HOWEVER— I have the black dial (love it) but the white dial is an absolute grail watch of mine and favorite .. even though I’ve got a platinum daydate40, and other far more expensive watches that’s just got nothing to do with it .. white dial Daytona is just that one for me and I really hope it will finally soon happen for me

Nice Randy thanks for sharing!! Hell you’re incomings from the last few months could be considered a stunning full collection in their own right! Going to PM you with some more questions so I don’t hijack the thread but again the biggest of congrats on the watches and your 16 years with your better half….these milestones and moments of fulfillment are what make life exciting.
