Platona + 15202OR for 5370P (black)??

It’s not either, it’s both. Already have the 5270. I love rose gold, but the 1R is very loud - one of the reasons I’m moving the 15202OR. I went with the classic J.

Personally I would do the trade. I like the 5370p WAY more than either of those other two but this is really personal preference :-). Good luck on your journey!

The 5370p is insanely good; however this is a tough one as you're trading 2 incredible watches for 1 god-tier....

Could go either way.

No way. Your watches are awesome.

Datograph perpetual tourbillon maybe. How much are you trying to get for the Daytona?

The Lange movement is awesome, but there’s just too much going on with that particular dial. I already have the Langematik Perpetual, and avoided their PCC for the same reason - overly cluttered subdials.

Now, if someone offered me the salmon dial LE, I might have to give it some serious thought.

I’m leaning towards keeping what you have. I would wear the platona and Jumbo more than the 5370P. I do think the 5370P is a special watch though.

I appreciate all the opinions. I finalized the deal on the 5370P, and will post an incoming after I get back from some travels next week.

I feel good about the state of the watch stable after this, and am excited to have the opportunity to own a new, discontinued Patek of this caliber. If I start bemoaning my lack of a Daytona or RO, you all can say, “we told you so!”

Respect! Congrats in advance on the reshuffle and top grading. I wonder if one day with more maturity I will also eschew the sports powerhouses and lean more to the dress side?

That is what influenced my choice to sell the Platona - but I didn’t go back in yet.

To your credit, the changes to the collection were worth considering.

My idea was sell at market top and then await the end of the downward slip in values and get what I crave at that time. It could take years but the world has really changed for serial collectors.

(Edit: posted the above before seeing you finalized the deal)

I would do the trade in a heartbeat, as has been said the 5370P is one of Patek's best pieces and a true icon. I class mine as the best piece I own and that is against some pretty special other Patek's and Lange's.

That’s really smart. In hindsight, I wish I had sold them back at the peak when I first considered it. I have no idea what they were actually trading for back then, but list prices over $400k for the gold jumbo and $250k+ for the Platona were insane.

Even making this move on the way down, I’ve been able to parlay some expensive, but common, watches into something rare and special. I’m really pleased.

Now that you have extra watch cash burning a hole in your pocket, have you decided on a target?

Thanks, Russell. What a beautiful wrist shot! I really like the look on the dark brown strap.

I ordered a new gray strap with black contrast stitching from CF. With the brushed mid-case and a more casual strap, I think the 5370P is very sporty.

Huge congratz, this is a major move (especially since you have alternative casual watches).

We all have evolving tastes and it is rare to have a favorite for the whole time. The 5370P is extraordinary, for the enamel rendering in the metal but also for the 29-535 finishing level in the split-second spec. The monopusher adds the cherry on the cake.

Wear it well and please post pictures with your grey strap when you can!

honestly, i'm not a fan of the 5370p.

The 5270p is 100x more practical, looks more interesting, and costs less.

Bright white apertures on the salmon dial, no fewer than 3 typeface fonts. I don't always expect a match but it just looks off.

OP's watch is very special. I can't claim to understand all the details but it appears to be a rich man's Lange and it is surely more consonant in its design.

All the 5270s are fantastic, and could easily be an “only” as long as you don’t live on the beach or in a swimming pool. The salmon dial, though, gets completely lost with some skin tones. Unfortunately, I’m that shade of pale. Fortunately, there’s still the G, R, and J to choose.

It’s good we all appreciate different aspects of a watch - I would agree on one of your points which is that the 5270 costs less and there are obvious reasons for the price difference,

Not too familiar with Patek, so I am curious as to what the word "Email" below the 6 refers to?

This is a tough one. I agree with your analysis - the Daytona is just a massive metal markup (not special) and while the RO is special, it is also a lot of gold.

Frankly, most people would probably say don't do it, but I think you should follow your heart. Personally, I'm a fan of consolidation in general if it means you wear the watch and get something you really, really, want.

It’s French for “enamel.”

I was told that the 6007A strap will only be supplied to those with the 6007A itself?
