5740

I am currently considering the 5740 after i dropped the idea of 5711/1R. I felt only 40Kndifference between them in secondary market makes the 5740 a better option.
Any thoughts from any owner or expert here on this watch?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Best nautilus in my eyes. Killer form factor on the wrist with perfect presence. Micro rotor is just exquisite to stare at. Top it off with the electric blue dial and QP complication I'm not quite sure what more you need.

Definitely the most useful complication. I don’t, personally, love the idea of sport watches with higher end complications. Would be a nice daily wear if you can stomach the inevitable scratches and scuffs.

I've tried it on...oddly it felt much lighter than I expected and lighter than my 5980r

I like complications and I like thin Nautilus models. Though I didn't think before it was launched that I would have liked a QP Nautilus, I find it know very appealing when I see it.

The dial is a little darker than the usual Nautilus blue one and it might be the color of the 40th anniversary models. The subdials are a little recessed which gives a nice look to the dial also (you can see some pics here: https://www.hightime-reviews.com/pat...-and-pictures/).

It has the thin and very nice looking 240 caliber. And is equipped with the new deploying buckle.

Then the weight. Some prefer lighter (steel) while the white gold version is quite pleasing on the wrist as the comfort of this bracelet's finishing is outstanding.

Very nice project.

Everything this gentleman said

My favourite watch in my collection. I find myself frequently staring at the dial not for the time....

If you can do it, you should do it.

I’m most likely in the minority but I don’t like the dial on the 5740 – the layout looks too cluttered.

Nautilus + Perpetual = 5740, man, that's all I need for a PP watch. However, the grey price is so high, not as OP said that just 40k different to 5711. I will definitely pull the trigger if the grey is sub 200K.

I am torn on 5740/1G. Love the microrotor and like the idea of dropping that movement into the thin Nautilus case. Yet I prefer the simpler looks of 5711/1A blue. Also, by the time I get the call for 5740 I won't be able to read the subdials... LOL

It's so true. I barely check the sub-dials on my watches. A smartphone overrides all fancy complications nowadays. I could easily check PC or chronograph with my phone. But I still love a watch with complication on my wrist, esp. perpetual and tourbillon. The feeling of mechanical progress of catching the perception of time on wrist is so amazing.

Sub 200k…haha…dream on! With the recent increase in msrp of 8% I don’t think this watch will ever fall below that level.

I say that about the 5712 but not the 5740 imo

The increase is not for the US market (yet).

Nice watch. I would prefer a seconds function on any type of sport watch. If that is not an issue, go for it.

Will be interesting to see where prices bottom on these, wasn't that long ago, perhaps a year or two they were closer to $200k. IMO the grail of the nautilus lineup, the wg hue is magnificent only matched by the electric blue dial. Thin case, WG, QP, deployment clasp...what's not to love!? On my very short list.

Just got the 5740 and love it. Like the weight, dial color / composition and complications. Not sure the 5711 will get much wrist time for a long time….fantastic watch!

The Patek 5740 is a beautiful reference but in my opinion if you were considering the 5711/R this tells me you are partial to rose gold the 5990/R is the one for you. Granted it is more money but at this level go for something you REALLY want and it has a beautiful blue dial also and complications and the weight of the rose gold feels amazing on your wrist its truly a heavy hitter.

I just realised you would be buying from the AD. In that case its cheaper than the 5740 and a true win-win. Best of luck sir!
