Salmon just seems more collectible but on my pale a** skin the blue pops while the salmon will get lost. If I had a darker complexion salmon would look incredible imho

No, that’s not what I meant. They’re very unlikely aren’t they to discontinue that movement, given they’ve only just released a new dial. What I meant is that they are not increasing production despite now producing two different dials. In other words they’re not making any more movements (than they already do). They are not increasing production to make the same number of salmon dials as they did blue dials. Rather they are splitting dial colours between the same number of movements being manufactured. So I’ve heard. Hope that make sense.

Update: I'm picking up the salmon next week. I agree the blue is more wearable but the salmon is gorgeous, and it's the one I was offered so I went for it. I will get a custom strap for it to dress it down, ideas welcome!

Great choice, thanks for the heads-up, both are very beautiful versions, it's a very well born chronograph. Now for the strap, there are so many interesting colors/materials combo. I would really try to go where I can check materials in real with the watch.

I like Nubuck (never had one), it's modern but I wonder if it ages well if it's an everyday wearer.

The greys are certainly great choices, black would look good in contrast though not dressed down at all ^^

The hands aren't black so maybe a kind of candied chestnut color? I think I saw a very light blue croc strap on a 5320G Salmon posted on TRF. It looked really nice.

This thing is an absolute work of art. Much more wearable than I was expecting. Once i get a more casual strap on here, it will work as an everyday piece!

I own the blue and would not have bought the pink but I can see the attraction. Great mechanism which is what PP is all about. Enjoy it!

Why would anyone buy a watch for any reason other than they like it, especially at this price point
It is extremely common for high-end pateks to sit around unworn, in a safe. Regularly seen at auctions.

Indeed! The movement drips with gorgeousness. It doesn’t really read pink in person; it’s mostly gold/gilt, with a rose tinge. I love it.

Thanks for sharing these pictures, I'm glad you enjoy it that much. The 5172 is a very well born Patek chronograph.

I would be over the moon with either dial color; and whichever one I had, I’d pine for the other and drive myself mad.

From recollection, the 5270P was more salmon and the new models are more pink. But in your pic they all look pretty much the same, is my memory deceiving me?

The 5172 looks similar or maybe the same as the 5270, at least to my memory.

Yes, the 5172/5320 are more pink while the 5270P is more "honey" in the metal.

Mine really doesn’t read pink at all IMO. I’d call it rose gold dial. Honestly I wish it were pinker

Well it doesn't really look pink indeed but compared to the warmer 5270P's it's a little more red/pink/coppery. Rose gold would qualify as well as an adjective ^^
