Ebay Warranty Cards

Can someone enlighten me on the Rolex warranty cards listed for sale on ebay?
I don't understand why someone would want or need a Rolex warranty card on a watch that they don't own? I've seen examples with listing prices of $1,000.
I must be missing something

Really?? I have never looked and had no idea that people were selling those. Warranty cards with serial numbers and info already on it? Of what use would that be? Kinda like buying a pink slip for a car that you don't own?

Definitely shady, and I'm sure something unethical is being done with them.

I was thinking there must be those that would alter the serial number shown on the warranty card? I can see where the card would enhance the desirability of a Rolex watch that was missing the original card.

Think the other way. Add the serial number to the counterfeit watch you’re producing.

People collect many various things they'll never use just for the sake of collecting, even old tickets to concerts. One mans trash is another mans treasure.

No no no, it's to "certify" a fake one on the forge.

The only reason to buy an ebay warranty card is deceit. You want somebody else to believe that the card is either authentic or original to make a build-up set.

I once bought a Rolex box and papers, tags etc at antique show. No watch.

I posted the serial number on TRF and offered the papers and tags free to anyone who might have the watch. It was a GMT.

Alas, no one claimed it. I eventually resold the stuff to a dealer who handles ephemera as well as watches.

This would have been a much better story if the watch owner had turned up.
