Icon20 Tribute to the classics - grid game

I really like the classic AP frame shape.

This is the latest work from the German watch modification company AET REMOULD - Grid Game.

AET REMOULD has created a new "Artist Collection" based on the Royal Oak Offshore, with the special feature of a dial designed with a multi-colored grid, distributed in an irregular style, with a grid shape derived from the classic checkered decoration of Audemars Piguet dials. The subdials incorporate the console button design, and the time circle features a gradient of blue and green to match the colorful dial, while the pure sapphire case reinterprets the artistic style of the large-size watch. The watch is called "Grid Game" and is limited to 10 pieces worldwide.

I think this is an abomination and that this watch shouldn't exist.

I struggle with the concept.
It's not new that some companies would customize watches, like MAD Paris or Artisans de Geneve. They would make a watch a skeleton one or DLC the case + bracelet etc.

Here I am not sure what is left of the original watch, except the movement. New remade plexi case, crown, pushers, dial, clasp... seriously?

What is the difference between that and a pure chinese fake AP? Except this one goes for $400k LoL! Both are benefiting from the AP brand and the AP design that belongs to AP!!!

It is not a customization but a rebuild.

I am not sure how comfortable AP should be with that... I know I wouldn't. What if AP decides to do plexi cases at some point?

It feels really really borderline, a mix of counterfeit (even though I understand we are talking multiple of the original price and not the opposite) and brand/trademark infringement...

Tribute to the classics - grid game

I feel that watch modification and bussdown’ watches are a thing of the past at this point. Even most rappers understand that these days.. The moment you modify a watch it’s basically a Frankenstein … But each to his own I guess lol
