So true and it's very noticeable. I'm considering flipping mine because of that.

Ym
[QUOTE=77T;12388482]The original 40mm classic YM with the sparkling dial in Oystersteel and platinum was my favorite monotone and much admired whenever in full sunlight.
I saw one on the NYC subway yesterday and I was impressed. Very good looking time piece. +1 for the 37mm version; I could wear the slate dial / tiffany blue hands every day. |

Back in the days of 5 digit 40mm platinum dial I didn’t like the watch from the pictures. But one time I tried it on at an AD and it was love at first try. Comfortable on the wrist, bling-a-licious and beautiful. The platinum dial and rhodium dial are my favorites.

Thanks everyone. Some great info here and some superb photos from some lucky owners. I’ve not got one yet but hopefully one day.

the fit is incredible especially for smaller wrists. the side of the case is thin and rounded like the OPs, DJs and DDs rather than the flattened, blocky side of a sub/GMT. Perfect balance of sport and dress in my opinion. unique platinum bezel. beautiful touch of blue on second hand and writing. so much to love.

I too was surprised after trying on the blue YM40. Mesmerizing dial and the platinum bezel is something better appreciated in person. The fit was perfect too, much better than a sub or gmt. Just don't get why they don't receive the attention that they deserve, IMO.

The complication on YM has quite narrow uses if you're minus a yacht and you own an egg timer

I'm a big fan - it was my first Rolex and despite getting more popular pieces since, this is the one I wear the most.

For me I’ve had the opposite reaction of many members on this thread. I was impressed til I saw it in person. I’m obsessed with the blue and rhodium dials in pictures, and 100% had one or both on my wish list, but when I got to try on the blue dial YM 40 in person it just didn’t excite me. I guess I’ll keep admiring it from a distance!

Love mine on. Saw it on another wrist the other day and made my love it even more.

Definitely an underappreciated reference, the platinum bezel is really unlike anything else in the lineup

I've had my blue YM for a few years now and it doesn't have a single scratch on the bezel. You guys who complain about how it's a scratch magnet must be playing rugby with the damn thing on your wrist.

I've had mine a year almost and wear it way more than my Sub (in fact I hardly ever wear my dull old Sub) and CHNR. It's a great watch. Not a mark on it apart from the pcl clasp. I concur with the rugby playing comment.
