Authentic Rolex SkyD 326938?

Hey Guys,

My apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section.

I'm in the market for a SkyD 326938 (as a lot of others are) and came across this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/28497663484...9098%7Ciid%3A1

I know they saying is "Buy the seller, not the watch". Seller has perfect feedback rating, and we've texted back and forth with promptness. I mentioned I am willing to travel to his area for a face to face deal, reducing the price a bit which he totally welcomes.

I know you can't tell the authenticity of a Rolex nowadays unless you open it up, but what do you guys think?

Thanks!

I’m sorry but I buy many things on ebay but I would never by an expensive watch. Much less a 50k gold Rolex. Ebay also has the dubious authenticity system in which an unknown party apparently opens the watch to verify the authenticity.

Take a look here https://www.rolexforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9 quite probably you’ll find that exact reference for sale and the sale will be from a reputable seller.

If I was going to drop $50k it would be at an AD or trusted seller personally. Face to face with that kind of money being exchanged can also add a small level of discomfort.

Use WatchRecon and find one from a trusted seller on this or another forum.

You had better know what you are doing if you choose to do a 50k face to face purchase with a stranger with so few items for sale and with so few items sold.
I’ve bought from eBay for 1/3rd of your 50k price and was ok with it because of the money back guarantee eBay has.
And also because I was comfortable to handle the authentication process myself before and after the purchase arrived.
Good luck to you as that is a beautiful model but not worth that kind of risk IMO.

I would pay a bit more and buy from one of the boutique sellers in the for sale section.
Worry free, no need to travel and no need to authenticate

It looks OK, however like others have said there is NO WAY I would buy anything expensive off ePrey, it is riddled with problems.

I am nowhere any expert but 49500 for 2017 SkyD PM, I would wait and get it from an AD. Don't think it is too sought after and u can get it from AD for a short wait. Just my personal opinion. I will not buy it on ebay

I’ll play devils advocate to the rest of the responders.
A couple thoughts - I think as the buyer you’re pretty protected if bought through eBay…
I don’t think the replica/fake makers are able to replicate the sky dweller movement, so if it functions correctly - using bezel to adjust - I’d think you’re OK. Also, can these guys fake the weight of gold?
There is a huge difference in weight on my ss sub to my wg sub

Nobody would over-polish a fake to that degree (though it could just be the light), so from an authenticity perspective, you're probably good.

I have seen a video on YT which shows a fully functioning Sky Dweller fake. Can't remember the channel. It was someone like WF or WB. This was about 3 years ago. Although the presenter was at pains to point out that fakes were not and should not be condoned, some understanding was expressed about the willingness of some people to knowingly own a knock off that looked and functioned like the real thing for a fraction of the cost. The fake in question cost something like $2-3K and had been sold as an homage (AKA fake). I suppose it would have been harder to get past someone looking to buy the real thing, but the quality of this fake looked awesome.

Don't the fakes have a full 360 deg rotating bezel that manually moves the red month marker position? Nearly fully functioning and easy to spot hands-on.

They probably can fake the Ring Command/9001 movement functionality but it would make the fake cost multiples more for zero perceived benefit to their target audience.

Stock market is going down hill, you should be able to get PM Sky D. from the boutique/AD soon without a long wait.

I find it odd that the seller didn't mention the Saros annual calendar feature in the ebay listing. That complication is the primary reason many choose the Sky-Dweller. I just wish my girly wrist could pull off wearing one.

Watch looks fine/similar to my 326935 except full PM SkyD’s are supposed to have the crown align upright

I know mine does. But I think I have seen a few that don’t

This was the angle of the presentation. Sold as a fake for thousands, to people who know it's a fake and don't want to pay full retail or grey. Looked and worked like the real thing but close inspection side by side revealed some differences. IIRC the fake weighed more. If I could find it I would post a link.

It may have no bearing on the watch in question but if being sold remotely it is worth bearing in mind that anything can be faked and some of them are very good.
