Congratulations & a good story, enjoyed reading that. Nice to know it’s still possible to walk in and get what you want. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

Curious, is there a reason why they have to ship it to you instead of just picking it up right there? Taxes?

If I had to guess it’s because of sales tax (Chicago is 10.25 percent) or because he didn’t want to walk around town with a Rolex bag or have to bother putting it in his luggage.
I do the same thing when I buy a watch when traveling.

Great looking watch; congratulations!!! I was lucky with my OP41; I asked about it and they got it out from the safe for me in the same visit. The first sales person who I'd worked with said, "no." I asked to speak with the guy I normally work with and it happened.

Thanks everyone!

Like I stated, I've been looking at the "glass half empty." I'm sure others are in the same boat! I saw on another forum that someone heard the Rolex Boutiques / ADs are now required to allocate a certain percentage of sales to walk-ins??? I don't know if that had something to do with my luck!

But, this has reinforced the lesson to "never give up!" Eventually, the right sales associate will recognize your passion! Hopefully, others will have similar luck and be able to obtain the piece of their dreams! Happy hunting!

100% correct!

I believe Chicago tax (10.25%) is the highest in the nation! By shipping it, I paid Massachusetts state taxes (6.25%). However, just as important, as mentioned here, I would not feel very comfortable walking around Chicago with a Rolex bag!
