Why is Jubilee bracelet more expensive than Oyster
I would think that the Oyster bracelet with glide lock adjust and the extra lock would be more expensive than the Jubilee. But the opposite is true. Any clues why?

Most probably Jubilee is more expensive to manufacture and more desirable than Oyster.

It's got like 5x the pieces. A lot more cutting, shaping, polishing and assembly. I'm surprised it's not more.

Italy and Greece is all about oyster, USA all about the Jubilee ...
I think the jubilee outsells the oyster..possibly more gold there than the oyster... hence the small price difference |

Jubilee is a bit more dressy. Many people buy a Rolex Datejust as a dress watch and the jubilee is the choice for them.
I am a wis and, for me, there is no such thing as a dress watch on metal brecelet. It has to be a leather piece.....so I would always choose the oyster. It feels a lot more sturdier. But I do admit, the one jubilee DJ I had was very comfy to wear.

It’s more expensive because it’s a more complex bracelet to make, think about it being a a five piece link vs the oysters one. A lot more refinement has to go into creating the pieces and polishing them.

Jubilee is more expensive to make and as far as I am concerned, less desirable due to the dated look. So, be happy that the Oyster costs less.

Because everyone is having nostalgia for their 1990s tag heuer formula 1 watch LOL. That bracelet is a hard “pass” for me.

New Jubilee also has the clasp feature. Its all preference and I do not believe the price difference is much. Oyster is a scratch magnet which is fine if you can live with that. Jubilee with the hidden clasp is great if you can get the correct fit. No fine adjustment in the clasp as with the Oyster.

You guys are all nuts...……. how much time to make, or number or parts the bracelet is made of doesn't drive the price. Just like there is no real rhyme or reason why the Sub is priced more than the GMT and the GMT is more than the Exp II, and on and on..
You think the Jubilee is expensive, try to buy a leather strap and deployant buckle from Rolex !!!!

I'm not sure either. Have both, and I can't tell the difference between my oyster and jubilee in terms of comfort. Both light, both comfortable. Maybe I'm missing some wrist nerve endings.

It's more diserable (not sure why) and probably more expensive to manufacture.

I second the commenter's question. There is no evidence the Jubilee bracelet is more expensive than the Oyster. Or is there?

comparable watches cost more on jubilee vs not.... buying a bracelet separately is ridiculously expensive no matter the bracelet option. AFAIK an AP ROO bracelet costs less than a rolex SS bracelet to buy as a standalone purchase... in any case its close and one goes on a 20K+ watch and the other on a watch that could be in the 6k range and the finishing is not comparable so straight up MSRP is all out of whack anyway for a rolex bracelet

Its simply tooling, supply, demand, and some old school industrial production fixed and variable cost math...
Mass Production/Continuous Production is the standard process for all things Rolex makes except their Job Shop Production which is characterized by custom specifications for a limited quantity of products, use of general purpose machines and comparatively more creative/skilled labor. = Custom dials, jubilees, Pearlmaster links and Masterpiece models etc... The Oyster molds and machines are paid for by now since they've been humming since I believe around 2006 with the first 6D models. As the jubilee gets offered on more models, the prices will come down and they'll be no different than an Oyster. Right now, they're more simply because there's less and the cost isn't loaded into the overall watch when bought as a part. Although this is Rolex we're talking about so... I could be completely wrong and its really which elves are on shift and which called in sick. ... |

I cringe any time someone refers to the DJ as a dress watch. It is an excellent all-around watch (IMO probably the best all-around watch in existence), but it is not a dress watch. |
