In my case, I bought it back on ebay and then sought a refund from the seller after I received the watch. I felt that I wouldn't have any problem recovering my money from paypal or american express with a police report on file that matched the serial number. Here's the details: http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=289770

I created a website with the URL that was the SN of the watch. I'm not sure I would do that again. If the business that bought my watch would have googled the SN, he may not have bought it and I wouldn't have recovered it.

Best of luck to you and feel free to PM me with any questions.

Drop into Rolex - 70 Collins St. City, They are very helpful.
I find face to face is better than phone -Your pain becomes their pain - with these atrocities!
These guys have probably done lots more burgs and caused so much anxiety
since they did yours.

Thanks Ray,
Have waited for a week now...hoping that the police would have some good news...but nothing yet.

So have reported to Rolex RSC Melbourne. They were terrific and as you said, my pain was theirs too and they have reassured me that they are now all listed on the lost/stolen database...so fingers crossed.

Thanks again everyone!

Ian

Reward for stolen rolex watches

Hi guys,
The latest is that the police have arrested and charged a 16 yo and 20 yo with the burglary upon my home...but they have been unable to recover any of the property stolen including any of the four Rolex watches. And the crooks are refusing to tell them what they did with them or sold them to.

So, I'm offering a reward of $5000 for information leading to the recovery or for the return of my watches. I really want my watches back

Full details of all four watches in my initial post...

Appreciated,

Ian

Great news that they caught the scumbags responsible. Now let's hope you get your watches back. I wish nothing but bad things on those guys

Ian, appreciate the mixed feelings you must be having, good that they have caught them bad that they wont tell what happened, had a similar thing happen to me years ago when I had my WRX daily driver stolen from in front of my house in the middle of the night in a quite road in Sydney, Police managed to chase them down while they were doing a smash and grab, sadly my golf gear, cycling shoes/sunglasses etc were tossed out before the pursuit and not long after they stole my car. Luckily enough I had some photos with my golf gear where it was tossed, and the photo had my weekend cars photo in them and the police tracked me down from that. The scumbags were in the same police office, as me during my report but they would not tell where they dumped my carbon bike shoes/glasses etc. Hardly the same as your Rolex's but the same problem and very frustrating you want to be able to shake the perps down yourself.

So sorry to hear about this. Good that these SOBs were caught. Bad that these SOBs are refusing to tell the Police where you're watches are.

If these guys were in my side of the world, I'd shake them down myself. I hate thieves.

I hope the OP gets the watches back and get some better security, it's a shame but we have to be realistic, even in Australia we cannot be laid back anymore.

Well, it been nearly 4 years since my watches were stolen, and still no sign of them.

Fingers crossed that they will surface somewhere at some stage and someone will give me a yell about them...

Please keep your eyes and ears open, especially my GMT...

Cheers, Ian

Sir I am so sorry to hear this. Old thread I know. I had my WG Daytona stolen and really the only description is as you said, gutted. Violated.

Stay positive as you can and stay on the police. They are probably filed the report and most likely if you live in a large city did no follow up. I had to be a bit of a nuisance to my local police and darn near threaten them to just check the pawn shop data base. I mean I gave them the serial number but they were like, "Yea, ok, thanks. Bye."

Only as I continued to bug them did they just simply type in the serial number. Bam. There it was at a pawn shop. Bad guys arrested and my watch returned.

And anybody that says "Meh, I don't need any papers." doesn't understand that without those papers there was no way the pawn shop was giving back my watch.

Ian, at least give us some cheer with justice being served against the criminals who caused all this pain. Did they ever give up the names of where the watches went? Please tell that they at least were sent to jail.

I feel your pain, I've also had watches stolen from my home.
No longer keep any watches at home, unfortunately I learned the hard way.
I too am still waiting that one day I may get a recovery call.

I'm really sorry for your loss but since you have all the certificates and serial numbers, this is a good start to able to have them back one day.

What important is in here; how smart these bastards are. If they go abroad and sell them in another country, the chance gets less but if they go to a watch dealer somewhere in your city, you're lucky.

I would personally find the phone numbers of all the watch dealers in my city from google and call them to let them know that if someone comes with these watches please call the cops when they are in the store. You also better to let them know that you already gone to police and reported them and if they buy one of these watches, they would be in trouble as well for buying a stolen watch.

Were charges ever brought against the 2 theives? did they end up serving any jail time for the crimes?

I, too, know that feeling. Like many other members here, I had mine burgled. Ironically, 4 models, too.

Yes, I can say you may see some of them again. I suggest staying in touch with the Rolex Australia person who keeps the list. Make sure yours are still listed.

Friend… I say this with kindness…

But you should move on from this. It’s been 7 years… Don’t let those thieves keep stealing your peace.

Have you bought any new watches since? And if so, did you already buy a bolted to the floor safe? A very heavy one too?

The best revenge is to live well.
