Likelihood of AD offering SS after PM purchase?
Long story short is I am awaiting a 126655 40mm RG YM on Oysterflex from a local dealer. I had reached out to 4 local ADs and the first to call me said they had one ordered from Rolex from when they could still place and order but the buyer backed out.
I love the 126655 and can’t wait to get my hands on it as thus far I have only tried on an exhibition model at the boutique in the Forum Mall on my last Vegas trip. While I don’t have any particular follow SS must haves what do you all think the likelihood of being offered a decent SS model after A PM YM purchase? I recently sold a 5513 and As much as I liked that watch I don’t miss it and feel that my sub days are over. I like some of the GMTs on Jubilee, Milgauss, and OP41s. Don’t have to have any of them but wouldn’t mind one. |

It will definitely help your chances. I think asking for a ss sub next would be a good move.

Hard to say. Milgauss should be doable. OP41 should probably also be doable unless you’re looking for the turquoise (or maybe coral red) dial. BLNR may be possible if you’re very lucky. BLRO probably going to need more history.

Thanks for the insight! It’s not really a primary concern of mine but was just curious. I used to love the Subs and still am attracted to the pre Maxi case versions but I think the lugs are too big on newer Subs. Never really thought much about it but the Jubilee is growing on me.

Pretty good. Just as long as it’s not a blro, daytona, or lv. Maaybe skydweller or blnr? No idea tbh

The worse thing that could happen is your AD calls you by your TRF screen name and says “I read your thread and it’s not happening”.

as I mentioned I’m just happy to be getting the 126655. If something else comes of it that is a cherry on top of the icing.

What did the AD say when you asked them?

can't hurt your chances... i think you can get Tier 3 after PM
(btw the Tiers are completely my subjective guesses. The only one I'm 100% on is Tier 1a (and to a certain extent 1b). Tier 1a SS - daytona SS white / black, SkyD blue Tier 1b SS - BLRO, OP41 (turquoise, yellow, red), Sub LV Tier 2 SS - BLNR, SD43, Exp 1, Sub, SkyD (other colors) Tier 3 SS - OP41 (other colors), Milgauss, AK, TT, DSSD, CHNR |

You will be a client now and will have more of a chance to get a SS model over a stranger, but buying the YM doesn't mean you deserve a SS piece. Buy a couple more less desired pieces then maybe

I got a GMT in 2018 after I had purchased a DD40 and 36 DJ and a fair bit of jewellery over a couple of years. However, it was more that the AD manager liked me and my wife rather than us being big hitters, which he said we were not in comparison to many others - in other words we jumped the queue. It took a lot of work on his part to get the regional manger to release it to me without any other additional purchases. As a side though since I have had it it is definitely the lesser of the two watches. PM is just much more superior. Also as another point faced with an inability to get anything else Rolex I recently plumped for a Seiko Alpinist and given the low cost, with discount it is currently my favourite. The chase, imo, is not worth it plenty out there for the watch enthusiast, for the investor after Rolex you'll have to play the new 'Great Game' - watch enthusiasts remain frustrated and gazumped by the new Rolex owner/investor.

Would move black Daytona below white Daytona/blue SkyD. Definitely easier to acquire than the latter two. Would move Sub LV down into 1c and move BLNR and SkyD (other colors) up to 1c. LV and BLNR trade at similar premiums to their MSRP, suggesting similar “scarcity”/difficulty to obtain. All 3 are certainly harder to come by than a Sub, SD43 or Explorer, but easier to come by than black Daytona/BLRO. Otherwise agree. |

Yes, it will increase the odds of a SS. Probably not an immediate SS offering and probably not the SS you want....but can only help

Tiers give me tears.
Yeah, though, the more you purchase the better the likely-hood the AD will look upon you more favorably. After all, you are making him more sales than the guy who "just wants one watch and you'll never see me again."
